For what it's worth, it's not really "embassy-like" status - passengers in the preclearance areas are still subject to local laws enforced by local law enforcement, and US CBP have limited power (e.g. they can deny boarding, but cannot arrest people).

The residence has two seats with seat belts, you sit there for takeoff. You don't get a First suite. The shower in the residence is for use by the residence guest(s) only, and the other shower is for the other 9 F guests. You need to be specific about which landing/takeoff you're referring to. AIUI he arrived in and left Cuba on an AZ A330, and then was taking an AA 777 within the US and then back home.
