I have the following problem... This week i have to do my PPL practical exam, with the flying i have no problem and i am confident that all will go alright. but i do have two questions i hope some of you can answer.. thanks for that in advance.. 1. With increasing altitude the indicated airspeed (IA...

Jump to postHey brettbrett, There is a very simple way to calculate the crosswind. although you have to know your math. But first something about the max crosswind limit of an aircraft. This value is always stated in the POH (operations manual.) normally a company demonstrates a landing with what they think is ...

Jump to postIt really would not matter wich engine is started first in my opinion. But an airline wants to have a common standard for its entire fleet. E.g Checklists for the 737-300 aircraft in use by for example KLM are all the same. On the other hand i can also imagine that it has something to do with starti...

Seems risky to me, you are already near the stall speed. deploying full spoilers could mean falling towards the earth instantly. not nice for the paxs. secondly, most airline pilots put the speedbrake handle in the landing config so they will deploy auto when the wheels hit the ground. also, spoiler...

Jump to postSorry typo, its indeed outboard ailerons instead of spoilers. (thanks for the correction)
The spoilers used when turning varies indeed with ac.
Airbus only uses if i recall correctly the four innner spoilers.
Cheers.
G.
Or both???
For a long time i am facinated by the discussion wether newton causes an aircraft to fly or bernoulli??
I have my own theory: and that is they both do. depending on the wing used.
well before explaining myself i would like to hear what you all have to say about it...

Some additional info on the subject might be in order. I agree with all it must have been roll control. Many people however do not realize or do not know an aircraft is rolling left/right by using spoilers. A large jet has two ailerons on both wings. at high speed the outer spoilers are locked into ...
