Anyone have a guess as to why the top of the plane burned so much? Looking at the photos, the sides of the fuselage look relatively unscathed, but then the top is almost completely burned out. Some speculated duty free booze in the overhead compartments.

Is the IFE in C on the 748 better than on the 744, or is that the same system? I know the 744s are not touchscreen, and the screen looks bigger based on the photos in this report. One thing I found on my 744 flight is that the IFE options were quite limited.

I think it's the MD-80. On the one hand I think they are sleek and beautiful aircraft, but on the other hand they have a horrible reputation for reliability (not safety...dispatch reliability).

The problem with the Q400 is that basically all the parts were subcontracted to different vendors unlike previous Bombardier aircraft. So, they obviously still had some learning curve as far as making it work seemlessly, although this is a problem Boeing is experiencing too.

I agree! Delta's customer service and flight attendant service are nowhere near as good as they use to be. Their on-time performance is lousy, in flight service in First Class is like what you used to get in coach. Coach is worse than the LCCs (terrible legroom, no food). I'm not impressed, Delta!
