They were planning on starting regular service to SCL. I would love to see Eastern back into Santiago after so many years. At least as a brand.Jump to post
The situation reminds me of Royal Brunei, when all their four 787 were grounded due to some reason I can't recall now. Titan came to rescue with two 767/757. Sounds to me LATAM Chile fleet operation is heavily relying current fleet they have, all being operated tightly. Good thing is they have many...Jump to post
LATAM has many more 787 then Air New Zealand. ANZ's long haul fleet is primarily 777 but LATAM's Santiago base is mostly 787 for flights to the USA & Europe. Other LATAM hubs use 767 & 777 with a few A350's too. LATAM has a much bigger total long haul fleet, but they seem to have a higher p...Jump to post

It's amazing how a bit of gold on the engines and a bit of cream white on the tail can make a world of difference on a, mostly, eurowhite livery. Beautiful!Jump to post
LATAM is leasing planes from Wamos Air while work is being done on these 787-8s engines. Some routes done by them are being covered by 767s which are being transferred from LATAM Ecuador and the routes done by these Wamos Air planes will be doing the routes left by the 767s.Jump to post
Wonderful TR, great pictures - not too much writing, well done! However, as an aviation geek, I was looking for a more "exotic" airline than LATAM; like JetSmart or Sky... Maybe next time?! :crossfingers: hahaha thanks for the comment. And yes! Actually, I was planning on fl...Jump to post
Beautiful. Want to go to Chile. When is the best month to go to Pacon / Lake District? Hi! Thanks for your comment! Well, you have three options: - If you are a winter person, you should definitely go between June and August. It gets really cold though and a bit crowded, but you get snow and you al...Jump to post
Yeah, funny enough, but how is it that we don't know the plane type or the airline?Jump to post
The sad ending Now, it was time to go back to Santiago. We booked the same shuttle bus service that took us to Pucon to go back to the airport. We said goodbye to the guys at the hostel and left for the airport. When we got there, I saw a thing a never thought I would see at an airport's security n...Jump to post
The town Our hostel was quite good and quite cheap, relatively near the city center. It was owned by a french guy (hence the French Andes name) and all the front desk receptionists were also french (some of them very nice looking). We had a really good kitchen to our disposal, an electric stove, a ...Jump to post
Hey guys So, long time without a trip report, which coincides with me working like crazy during 2017. But anyway. Here comes a nice, comprehensive trip report on my last vacations. Here goes. The planning After breaking up with my girlfriend, I started planning a trip with my friends to, basically, ...Jump to post
Airbus A340-300. I always loved the sound those tiny CFMs produced at full throttle.
The other one was the MD11, but, unfortunately, the only chance I almost got to fly on one was in the Mid 90's and it was changed to a 767 because of a (big surprise) problem with the MD11
I think I've read here that the B787-9's CASM is low enough for LCC's to operate them profitably. I know AR is not a LCC, but given that the B787 has been quite a huge success in South America because of this lower CASM, I wonder how low is it compared to that of the A330neo. That might be something...Jump to post
At least it wasn't fatal, but the damage to that engine looks severe.
Must be hard to get a new engine for a Jumbolino these days, so I wonder how they'll manage to get one.
So this is what we'll be getting on the SCL route.Jump to post
Well, some more unsurprising news. The Peruvian DGAC has suspended LAW's operating certificate because of the continuous delays and passengers being repeateadly stranded in Lima. Seems like the final nail in the coffin for LAW: https://www.indecopi.gob.pe/-/comunicado-sobre-suspension-de-operaciones...Jump to post
I work at a hotel here in Santiago and most Americans book flights and rooms via Expedia. Funnily, most come via United, even though it only has one daily flight compared to American's two daily flights and LATAM's three daily flights.Jump to post
Is this "person" actually confusing "good looks" with "being sexy and sexually arousing"?Jump to post
I was wondering when this would happen. LAW's operations in Chile have always been a bit shady, and with the huge increase on immigrants coming from Venezuela and Haiti, they got a bad reputation of being a "One-way-ticket" airline. They were even (unfundedly) accused of smugling immigrant...Jump to post
I'm seeing a future 787-9 deal. LATAM replaced they're A340s with 787s and it worked out quite nicely for them.Jump to post
Boy am I glad I'm not the only one that saw this one coming.Jump to post
And there are other issues as well. This is a video uploaded yesterday that shows a loose window frame on one of LAW's 737-300s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX1etgtBgIQ It doesn't say its LAW's airplane, but it's flying between Concepción and Santiago, and LAW is the only airline flying 737s in ...Jump to post
Well, that was quick. They just got their AOC and should be announcing their first routes very soon.

Lots nice and like the frontier livery which gives a clue on who owns them.(Indigo Partners) When will they start Ops? Last time I read it was in July. They've been talking with the local DGAC to get the corresponding certificates to start flying soon. They're very advanced in these talks. For what...Jump to post
Hey guys So, we're getting a new airline in Chile and its first plane is coming this way, an Airbus A320-232SL, S/N 7595, CC-AWA (Originally built for Vueling, ntu). They're planning on bringing two more CEOs, for a start, and then adding 6 NEOs in the following years. JetSmart is part of Indigo Par...Jump to post
And here I was wondering why we're only getting Delta's 76W at SCL. Maybe we're not sending that much cargo to the US?Jump to post
Hey guys So, KLM, as I write, is withdrawing its Boeing 747-400s from use. So, for the SXM run they are sending their A330s, but, AFAIK, KLM is also withdrawing their A330s as their leases are coming to end. So, my question is, what will they send afterwards? 787-9 would be my choice, but I don't kn...Jump to post
