Just to answer your question above - yes there is a good spot. When you enter the lot, head north and east to a group of palm trees. I think it is near rows 21-22-23. I agree with Peter's assessment above. A 'badcentre' rejection also means a tighter crop could have been applied. Simply put, the subject does not fill the frame.

Tim, There is a small, fenced, outdoor patio/walkway adjacent to the rooftop bar. Just go up to the bar and you'll see the door leading outside. It's there to allow smokers to step outside. The discussion above is about the consequences of jumping the patio's fence onto the "roof". Terry/PHX

Even though US Airways has two operating certificates (thence the "operated by America West Airlines" sticker) the name for the airline is US Airways. It's not a "doing business as" situation like you find with Mesa Airlines and the other regional carriers.

Denis, Try shooting in <acronym title="Air France">AF</acronym>-S mode. The shutter won't release until focus is locked on your subject of choice. The other problem you have with shooting LAX from sunrise to 9am is the nose of the airplane is usually covered in shadow, even in winter sun.

I have the Nikon 70-300ED and have no complaints with it. I find it to be a useful general-purpose telezoom, and have had no trouble getting shots from it accepted here.

A friend of mine uses the Konica Minolta 7D and absolutely loves it. The built-in image stabilization is a nice touch, esp. with the Sigma 50-500mm.

I like Florian's idea. Realistically though, my goal is to keep workflow to a minimum. When you shoot a variety of subjects for a variety of purposes and clients, time is money. You're correct Josh, I mixed up the runways. Departures are off of 25R/7L, arrivals on 25L/7R. 8/26 gets a good flow of arrivals, even some south-complex stuff like Ted, Alaska, etc. I like the parking garage on <acronym title="Lotus Air (Egypt) and Thai Air Cargo">T2</acronym> for close-range shots...
