Re: Boeing KC-46 News, Production and Delivery Thread

There are several jets that were assumed to be 2021 models that are actually USAF 2011 serials. From what I gather, the contract for the FY11 models had to be delivered by a certain date, so with the original builds not in any shape to be accepted by the USAF, they reserialed the following as 2011's...

It would appear that C-17A 10-0223 has suffered damage from a pretty substantial brake fire. Video posted on YouTube here https://youtu.be/ZsVqBl9gBz0

Re: C-5M vs C-5A range performance?

Is there a range difference between the current C-5M and the original C-5A or do both aircraft have the same range? I read that the C-5M can fly TATL/TPAC missions nonstop without air-refueling is that true? Also, I noticed that all 49 C-5Bs and the 2 C-5C got modified into C-5Ms and only 1 out of ...

The USAF has never has any kind of organization when it comes to retirements. Usually retirements come along when a jet hits a critical maintenance requirement like a C/D check. Congress has slowed down the KC-10 retirements due to the KC-46 issues still plaguing the fleet. Originally 16 were suppos...

Just a note from reading this thread; The C-17 hour average is around 17K hours. Only 15-20 are actually above 20K hours. Most are in the 14K-18K range. The most hours on one jet is 26,500K and only one jet is close to that behind it. The next one is down around 23K. Most of the 05-10 models are bet...

To get back on topic; Pittsburgh has 5 C-17's now. After they get the last 3, it will bring Charleston down to 39 and McChord to 40 C-17's. It never made any sense why Westover split their C-5 fleet and gave 8 jets to Lackland when they would have been a perfect place for another C-17 base. So, now...
