I wish they would do JNB now
Jump to postHaving had a chat to someone recently from QF they are at the moment unsure of what aircraft they are gong to send to JNB to replace the 744's, if they go 789 it will add extra +- 3-4 hours to the flight as they would have to hug the coast because of etops. A380 can do it but there would be the poss...
Jump to postHi everyone,
I have heard that AKL might also go A350, not sure how true that is?
JNB is more of a no-go than any of the others. Low demand, low yield. Hub in JNB? Where to? Antarctica?? Even SA struggles to make their JNB hub work (even if that airline has other, more serious, issues). Demand to South Africa from Western Europe is high, especially in Northern hemisphere winter....
Jump to postHi Everyone
Was wondering if JNB will see the 777 or will it go A330.
Regards

It will be 788 until further notice I believe
Note that the following is still to be confirmed, but now seems that an announcement is not too far away Qantas is planning to start a 4 weekly service from Perth to Johannesburg from the 7th December 2018 running on Mondays, Wednesays, Fridays and Saturdays operated by A330-200 aircraft and would ...

log0008 wrote:From my sources PER-JNB defiantly going ahead, start date also correct. Also some talk it may run as a single flight number MEL-PER-JNB but defiantly not a certainty
I wonder what effect this will have on SAA Perhaps SAA will take on QF in the challenge, and launch something like JNB - MEL or CPT - SYD? Cheers, C. The writing is on the wall here. I think SA will drop frequency to PER. QF used to fly JNB-PER-SYD and a quite a number of years back used to d...
Jump to postMaybe the SYD flight could have AKL as an add on, if pricing is affordable they could do pretty well on the route?

With NZ wet lease of Hifly aircraft ending end of January apparently the repairs to 787 engines are going to take alot longer than anticipated. Rumour has it that they will dry lease some 777, who would these dry leases come from?
The A380's will probably be re-prioritised. My understanding is “First” class will be going to the upper deck and premium economy will be going down to the lower deck. QANTAS have made statements to the effect A380's will be used for parts of the Asian network during peak periods. If this is the ca...
Jump to postI think TAM have really entered at a good time and if there service is good they are set to make that route very profitable. I know that have recently adjusted their arrival and departure time into JNB which i think is better that SAA departure times. I have not flown SAA in ages but all i hear is t...
Jump to postThat's interesting and random alright but weird the airline had thought of AKL-EZE-JNB. If NZ go to JNB anytime they will try and do it non stop ex AKL. I am surprised they didn't try Either though with 744's in the 1990's via MEL maybe for JNB. There was rumour in the early 2000's that NZ were goi...
Jump to postHi Everyone
I was just thinking about Air NZ flight to EZE and would it make sense for them to continue the flight to JNB. I know MH used to do it with 5 freedom rights, do you think they have considered the possibilities. Just a random though on a monday evening.
What are DL plans for JNB when the LR's reach there retirement age?
Jump to postThey used to fly to JNB lates 90's if im not mistaken not sure if they will start it up again.
Jump to postWondering if they are considering JNB again maybe 3rd time lucky especially with new metal, might be viable again?
Jump to postI find it strange that AKL is not on their radar. There is a large Indian community in NZ and i know that most flights originating and arriving at AKL have large number of Indian passegers. AI should consider extending the SYD route.
Jump to postHi Everyone, Aplogise in advance for being a bit late on this one but was waiting to see if any news would pop up, but has not so hence the post just my curiosity i suppose. Was wondering what happened on the BA057 flight to JNB on the 14 January did not see anything about it on AV herald or any oth...
Jump to postIf NZ did take on this route clearly flight schedule would need to change as I don't think they would want to be on the ground in PER for 10 hours. If I'm not mistaken the connection timeto SA flight to JNB is 10 hours .
