Re: Southwest ask mother to prove Bi-racial child is her own

To remotely compare this to a couple with an infant lap child is off-base and distracting. But therein lies a problem. The aviation industry is great at closing the door after the horse has bolted. Shoes removed through security after a shoe bomber has already passed, for example. Don't confuse the...

In your own quote I highlighted what you seem to be missing that it specifically says “or birth certificate (infant)”, so not just any govt issued I’d. On WN’s website that I have already linked above under the traveling with infant section: “A copy of the child's birth certificate is required to v...

Wrong. Government ID or birth certificate. Passport is most definitely a valid government ID: From WN's own web site: You must present a valid Government-issued I.D. providing age (child) or a birth certificate (infant) to the Customer Service Agent at the airport when you check in for your flight....

Interestingly enough, he was there. Unless the child carries neither parent name, I can't see how this became such a issue with both parents present. Where in the article does it say he is there? Not refuting just didn’t see it when glancing over the article OP linked. It was on the original tweet ...

Re: Southwest ask mother to prove Bi-racial child is her own

If only the father had been present, (who had a matching surname to the child) was present, there would presumably be no concern. If so, why the concern when both parents are present. Interestingly enough, he was there. Unless the child carries neither parent name, I can't see how this became such ...

Exactly. So why the extra scrutiny? Perhaps someone with requisite knowledge can enlighten us as to the specific WN policies that apply in such a case? The parents provided a passport, which would be the gold standard for establishing identity and citizenship. And presumably the child's name matche...

Re: Southwest ask mother to prove Bi-racial child is her own

Contract of carriage requires an ID for all fliers. I've been asked to produce birth certificates with my ex (different last name). It depends on the security level. They had a passport for the child, and were asked to provide a birth certificate in addition to that. From the article: "We had ...

Re: WN's Upcoming Winter Schedule Release on 5/31

Sorry WN will get eaten alive on those shuttles along BOS/LGA/DCA. And out of FLL, the reason they haven't added more is because B6 is crushing them. The new routes they have added out of FLL really haven't performed well. WN could add nonstop service to FLL from additional destinations that are no...

Re: Dallas says it has a plan to resolve Southwest-Delta fight for Love Field gates

WN has the RIGHT to operate 18/20 gates out of DAL. They (and possibly AS) are the only ones providing competition to DFW down the street. Delta has enough flights/competitive advantage over at DFW, they don't need to operate out of DAL as well. Apparently the US3 is not good enough with trying to ...

Re: Dallas says it has a plan to resolve Southwest-Delta fight for Love Field gates

I dont think you really understand monopolies. One carrier will fly MSP-DAL as there arent enough gates for both DL and WN to do it. So who would you prefer fly MSP-DAL??? DL or WN? Delta adding flights at DAL wont lower fares on ONE SINGLE ROUTE period. It is best that WN grow and add DTW and MSP ...

Re: What is origin of Spirit's NK IATA code?

Often IATA codes are assigned at random especially if the logical assignment is already taken, hence why Southwest is WN rather than SW (already taken by Air Namibia). Obviously Spirit Airlines couldn't take the logical SA since that already belonged to South African. My guess is NK is just a random...

Re: Sun Country adds DFW/LAS, Adds Frequency to AUS-MSP

The new direction of SY is at work. At first I was thinking why DFW-LAS, but on second thought it makes sense. There's only three carriers flying between Dallas-Las Vegas. All three - WN, AA, and NK - are strong, but it's just three. As a comparison, CHI-LAS has five carriers, ATL-LAS has four, and...

Will WN ever add Saturday-only nonstop service to PBI from DAL? As is typically the case with these "PAX being treated poorly" videos, the video starts halfway to near the end of the incident and we don't know the whole story. Most likely this PAX was acting like an A-hole and not getting his way, pushing the agents to where they were getting testy, se...
