More tailstrike clearance, keeps an 800 in service for passengers while base training is done on it, cheaper than a -800 yet the pilot rating (-300 to -900) covers it...

Luckily for Ryanair the absolute peak summer season hasn't quite started yet, July and August will be flat out. There are currently a few bases not using all their aircraft all the time so there should be the opportunity to get a spare down there while it's being repaired.

It would be interesting to know the final fuel load, there would be a legal minimum as we know and if they took significantly more that could be a clue. The plane may have a range but obviously it doesn't always take maximum fuel on a flight shorter than its capabilities.

Yep booking with Avios you can come back on the A380 on BA911 tomorrow but the BA902 is full, no surprise there! Return using 9000 avios and £35.

6 is just a number, from the 737NG manual: "Valid entries are 0 to 500. 0 causes the ECON speed to be MAX RANGE; 500 results in a minimum time flight." 500 is an extreme number, I don't know of any operators who would use more than 100. I would imagine if ATC assign a speed, you follow it and accept...

This is a very sensible decision and saves a huge amount of money. It's just the same as driving your car more efficiently to get further range out of the tanks (eg accelerating more smoothly)
