Re: Aer Lingus 707 Last Flight Video, 1988

Fantastic find on YouTube, a tribute video to the last B707 flight in Aer Lingus service in 1988. Love the quote from the Captain, where he says 'if you can fly a 707, you can fly anything!' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkq_lsmySxE It was actually 1986, but it was certainly a wonderful video and...

Re: IAG in talks to replace BA 777s

I can't see the A350-900 figuring; my expectation would be a mix of A35Ks (which BA loves) and the 787X. The 78X is a pretty capable machine and as its MTOW creeps up, with various improvements, it should cover pretty much all of BA's requirements, maybe even GRU/MEX.

Re: Irish 3/24: If the cap doesn't fit ...

Quite a few delays this morning departing Dublin, likely due to the snowfall. A number of flights over an hour late departing, some the guts of 2 hours I see 10L is now being used to park aircraft waiting for a stand. Yes, de-icing probably contributing to that too - or lack of it. EY delayed about...

Re: Irish 2/24: Flying February

I think, realistically, Ryan is going to do nothing; one could almost say, from his perspective, it wouldn't look good for a Green TD/minister to be doing anything to help aviation. I wonder if there are arguments behind the scene on this, because several ministers have called for the cap to be lift...

I think that as the 78X is improved, with higher MTOWs, it will become a more attractive aircraft. Remember when the first A330-300s came out in the mid 1990s and their MTOW was about 211t; at the end of its production run, the last ones (ironically, also delivered to EI, which was the first airline...

Good evening everyone and welcome to our second thread of 2024. January was, well, much as we'd expect from January - cold, dark and fairly miserable. Today was all three! I’d prefer the wide body fleet replacement, something the airline will ideally have for the next 20+ years, not to be decided with an opportunistic grab at some second hand A330neos. I know that’s not what anyone is genuinely suggesting but Aer Lingus has form in this department. It worked for the ...

Spare a thought for crews with the likes of LOT, Malev, Interflug, CSA and others who transitioned from IL62s and Tu-154s to western types in the early 1990s; that was some transition! With LH's "purchase rights" and this order, following hot on the heels of TK's big 321Neo order and a big lessor's order only last week, the A320 series is really selling very well. I think it must only be a matter of time before the A320 series (including all models, from the beginning) e...
