My hometown Stockton, CA tried a similar move a few years ago...to promote themselves. Stockton Bay Area Airport ( or something like that) ...it's a stretch to consider Stockton part of the Bay Area.

Hotel Catedral is nice if you're looking for a place to stay in La Paz.
I spent 3 days in La Paz, BCS in December of 2019. I agree that Hotel Cathedral is great...out of the noise zone and a short walk to the malecón (bay walk).
We flew from TIJ to La Paz...a quick flight and very reasonable.
I was checking out Allegiant Service at SCK: often 2 daily flights to Las Vegas and twice weekly to Phoenix-Mesa.
I was wondering if they could begin a daily to LAX? I know that UAX was not able to sustain 2 daily flights but with Allegiant's structure I think they could make a go of it.
