Serious question.

Why would an A320, MD80 or 737 need to do a standing full TO power roll from the yellow marked area?

The heavies (777s, 747s, A330s, A340s etc) don't. And they require much more runway than the aforementioned.

What I am envisioning in the near future are A/P GPS controls which will override the PICs if they are making incorrect/catastrophic inputs. Basically a GPS can tell you all the necessary parameters for flight. Speed, altitude, rate of decent, etc.

The GE90 at spool up just gives me the chills and makes me giddy. The Trent 800 is a close second to the GE90.

But that low hum of a DC10 or classic 747 above is like angelic music to my ears.
