You will not go wrong with a Canon 40D which is a great camera. Good luck with whatever you choose. The Tamron 70-200 stabilised lens is also said to be very good if you can stretch that far with your budget.

Whatever you get just take plenty of pictures and not just of aeroplanes!

My wife and I along with some friends travelled with Malev from Cork to Budapest last October. Excellent service on an excellent aircraft, 737-600. Food good and friendly crew. Top marks. Three hour flight between Cork and Budapest. Great flight.

An 88 seater Q400 would work very well. Good for thinner routes in the same way as JetBlue are going after newer markets with the ERJ 190. It may be the way things are going with fuel prices going through the roof. Think they should definitely go for it. Much lower operating costs on offer?

Would the A340-500s if not the A340-600s get to Los Angeles off the present runway 10/28 at Dublin and how far to the east could a -500 go?
