Re: Wizz Air News and Discussion - 2023

Out of curiosity, do you hold the same view of Ryanair? FR announced EDI-TIA a day after W6. In fact almost all routes that W6 just announced out of TIA seem to have been in response to the upcoming FR. And although W6 routes may seem erratic, the failures out of TIA can be counted on one hand. I'm...

Re: Wizz Air News and Discussion - 2023

That makes no sense. If FR is smelling blood, then why not go after one of the bigger W6 routes at TIA, where it can really hurt W6, rather than a minor route that hasn't even started yet. Why not carpet bomb the TIA-Italy market if it really thinks W6 won't be around for long?

After the blockade ended, visiting Bahrain if based in Qatar meant a 7 hour drive rather than a 25 minute flight. That's all true. But when ATH, which is a lot further away and is a much larger market, has only a limited number of flights, you would think that SKG would be a futile effort. Albawings will probably go bankrupt soon. Their current schedule has diminished immensely. Air Albania has only 3 a/c at the moment. 4th went back to TK. But your point still stands (pun intended). Although there are 21 stands, not 17. They added four new ones last summer when they expanded the apron.

I am a bit surprised they don’t launch Jeddah-Tirana unless someone else is already flying it. Flynas already flies TIA-JED and TIA-RUH. I suspect that's why Wizzair went for DMM. Most Albanians still use travel agencies to buy airplane tickets so it's not uncommon for some obscure airlines to be chartered to operate several specific routes.
