Re repaints: Rumour in the company has it that repainting was completely stopped due to COVID, which makes sense. Only recently have they restarted painting, the RJ900 fleet is now fully in the new colours with FUJZ being the last. On the Q side looks like GGNW just came out for fresh paint at YQA....
Jump to postI find it incredible that first flight to certification on both the 757 and 767 took about 12 months, and yet the 737 Max 7 is still not certified after 6 years from first flight.
Jump to postYou sure about that? While LAXYYZ may not have been a natural fit fort AS at that time, after AS ended the route, AC changed that frequency from a 747 to a 767. An odd quirk, I acknowledge, but I have collected every single AC and TCA timetable printed from 1937 to 2002 when print timetables ended....
Jump to postHow about making strides on the road to labour peace with their pilots first. Can run an airline without company sales staff, can’t run it without pilots. Can't run an airline without customers either (whose fares pay the pilot salaries). Something the pilots need to think about with a possible rui...
Jump to postGood points. Yes true WestJet has more deliveries of the Boeing Max 737 planes ✈️coming in the next couple of years from the Max8 to Max7 & Max 10. Half the WS Max fleet will be used on Canada to USA routes eventually. I'm not sure about future usage, but are WS still planning on taking deliver...
Jump to postIn the most recent schedule update, they have removed the following routes effective October 30th: YYC-PDX YYZ-LAX I imagine PDX is only a seasonal cut, but be interesting to see what becomes of YYZ-LAX. YYZ-LAX appears to be a tough nut to crack for anyone and everyone but AC. VX couldn't make it ...
Jump to postI'm surprised WS axed the YYZ-LGW route. Perhaps it wasn't making a decent return, or perhaps it just got swallowed up in the strategic retreat to YYC. I doubt it was the former.
Jump to postYou have to wonder how serious this order is.
Jump to postBan the gun. It's the only solution, just like in other Western nations.
The freedom from being shot is a more fundamental freedom than the freedom to own a gun.

AA747 was the first I flew on. Was a little kid and I fell asleep in the upper deck lounge.
Nice to see the 741/742 at MEM! Was it scheduled or a one-off?
Jump to postPorter is now reporting a Sept 8th restart for select Canadian destinations. US destinations will begin Sept 17.
Porter has also released a schedule of flights. It looks like the entire network is returning by mid-October.
If Porter is not profitable when operating at "full force", i.e. pre-COVID, then one obvious solution is to shrink to a profitable core of operations while relinquishing some (or many) of their YTZ slots. The surplus Q400's could then be used to beef up (say) YOW or YHZ into mini-hubs. If ...
Jump to postFord essentially lost his bid for election in 1976 by pardoning Nixon in 1974.
Jump to postAC is still scheduling the 77L on YYZ-YVR-SYD and YYZ-HKG into late 2021 for what that's worth, based on the current AC schedule.
Jump to postI don’t believe you’ll see the disappearance of the A320s by 2025, especially if they can acquire a few extra frames at a low price. They have the same type rating as the A321s and would add scale to the subfleet. I do believe however that the Airbus fleet will be based in YYZ/YUL while YYC/YVR wil...
Jump to postUA has 1x daily SFO-YYZ right now. 738 equipment. This increases to 2x daily in June.
UA announced they would increase frequency to 3x daily this summer but this has not been loaded in the UA timetable yet. This suggests LFs are good.
Before open skies there was a YWG-LGA route on AC on the 727's. With open skies AC threw everything at getting critical mass in its YYZ hub. There is traffic to support a nonstop, but it is definitely split between various connections, split both by airport EWR / JFK / LGA, as well as between carri...
Jump to postAccording to aerotransport.org, 3 will be delivered in 2021, 4 in 2022, and the final 3 in 2023.
Jump to postThe current 7x daily ATL-YYZ M88 service will switch to 7x daily A320 service on Mon June 8.
Jump to postI caught the first 'Her Art' livery at a gloomy GLA the other morning at first light. Arriving from EWR on what I believe was the new livery's first international sector ? No, if I remember correctly it was LIS that got that honor. Likely a Canadian airport took that honour with the 738 or Express ...
Jump to postBlueknows, do you want to buy my shares for the 27 cents I paid for them? Maybe they will go up above $1 at Christmas for no reason whatsoever like they did last year. ;) I'm now down to thinking about 5% chance they will launch. That said, I don't feel stupid for investing a small, manageable amou...
Jump to postI've seen a couple of the Sunwing frames in YYZ recently, including Planet Hollywood. 2 WestJet frames seem to be in long term storage at YYZ (one at the FedEx ramp, the other at the infield facility).
Jump to postSmall news but AA is upgrading one of the 3x daily MIA-YYZ 319s later this fall to 321 service on certain days, through the winter. This route is heavily seasonal and AC Rouge will also be upgrading from 319 to 321.
Jump to postUnited has way more than 123 outstanding MAX’s to be delivered.... aerotransport.org is showing the following breakdown for UA MAX orders: -8 4 orders (none delivered, but all assigned with manufacturing S/Ns). -9 65 orders (14 delivered, with a further 16 manufacturing S/Ns assigned of the outstan...

Which route are we talking about here with the upguage?
Sorry -- YYZ-ORD
This fall AA with upgrade their 1x daily 319 mainline to 1x daily 738. AA will then operate 3x daily 738 and 4x daily 319 to YYZ.
Jump to postA sustained increase in CAD parity with the USD could change WN's mind. That would be years away.
Jump to postAlthough AA has dropped the 1x daily 319 YYZ-LAX, they will bring back the route for one week only (~Sept 7-13) with the A321, to accommodate seasonal traffic for the Toronto International Film Festival.
Jump to postSwoop is planning to grow their fleet from 7x 738 now to 10x 738 by year end.
Jump to postI also am keeping an eye on AA shares. Whatever financial and operational challenges that AA has (every airline has challenges), the steep drop in AA share price is beginning to make AAL a very attractive stock pick. Share price is down about 50% since January 2018. I plan to buy in the coming days,...
Jump to postRumour or not, this is not spreading to the markets. B6 stock price continues to trade in the doldrums.
Jump to postAC is already highly dominant in the Canadian market, and AC Rouge and TS are direct competitors. The federal competition bureau should not allow this purchase to take place.
Jump to postAccording to the AC schedule, AC Express CR9 ops will (finally) return to YYZ on June 16th, with daily CR9 flights to MSY, YQY and 2x daily to BNA. 4x daily in total.
Jump to postIf Ryanair is pulling people (who would travel anyway) out of cars and buses which pollute more (on a per capita basis), you could argue Ryanair reduces pollution, not creates it. Ultimately, the real polluters are the individual travellers themselves. Ryanair is merely providing a service which gen...
Jump to postI do not see a problem with this at all. It is completely voluntary, and both parties are presumably satisfied. Those that object are just looking to control other people. Airlines have to establish a pecking order for trip bidding, and nobody has come up with a better or fairer one than seniority....
Jump to postAA mainline will return to YYZ-ORD this summer with a 1x daily A319.
This will raise AA mainline at YYZ to 7x daily (2x 738, 5 xA319) -- 2x daily DFW 738, 3x daily MIA A319, 1x daily CLT A319 plus the ORD A319 route.
A fraction of the former AA presence at YYZ, but progress nonetheless.
Does anyone know if the BA summer YYZ-LGW route is returning in 2019?
Jump to postAccording to aerotransport.org, AA has 28 M80s still in service, and all are due for retirement this year. No breakdown by aircraft by month for retirement.
Jump to postLapplander800 wrote:YYZ on 757 (perhaps there isn't one today?). Could probably be a 737MAX if they had one.
This summer YYZ-DTW is showing 5x DL daily (CR7/CR9) and YYZ-MSP is showing 4x DL daily (CR9/E175).
So far, anyway.
AA cancelled the daily LAX-YYZ A319 service in January. Route was initiated in 1974 and has been cancelled a couple of times over the past 45 years. I suspect this might the end of this route for AA. Does anyone know if this is seasonal or permanent? Last couple of year AA added a 2nd daily periodic...
Jump to postwhywhyzee wrote:I suspect the DL 717 will still come from MSP and DTW this summer.
AA is rapidly moving from the former largest US carrier at YYZ to the smallest. The growth from DL and lately UA has been insane. UA has grown IAH and DEN especially this winter which is impressive, and have a 2x daily SFO service beginning in a couple months. They are down to only IAD and 1x daily...
Jump to postUnited have 96, not 100, on order.
Malaysian and VietJet have also ordered the MAX 10.
Icelandair will add 3 more MAX 8 and the initial 2 MAX 9 this spring/summer, for a fleet of 6 MAX 8 and 2 MAX 9 this year.
Jump to postI doubt DL would add YYZ-LGA given WS has 8 737s a day on the route. If anything DL would add an LGA frequency to YUL and YOW and maybe open up a daily flight to YQB once their preclearance facility opens. Any of that would involve DL cutting something else at LGA. If the LFs on the 8x daily WS YYZ...
