IMO the A380 would have worked better with the step change in technology that has happened with the A350 and 787, more CFRP, more efficient engines, less weight, so forth. But we could debate it until we are blue in the face.

You are focusing way too much on frequency when it’s all about yields/profit. Sure, Colombia might have the most frequencies, but it’s most likely less yielding than Brazil. I don't think very many (I imagine hardly at all) bother flying CRP-DFW/IAH-AUS because it's only a 4 hour drive (tops without traffic... which is common), and that routing could end up taking 4 or more hours given connection time and security wait times. Didn't AA take delivery of some of their 772ER fleet before 2000? There were 161 -200ER total delivered in 1997(48), 98(50) and 99(63) per the Wikipedia 777 Orders and Deliveries page.

Flew out of Flagstaff one time on an Air Wisconsin operated America West Beechcraft 1900. That was pretty enjoyable and surprisingly quiet.

But yeah I think my final answer will be, any turboprop that I can get! I am lost in a sea of boring A320 and B737.
