2) There was an even longer discussion that UA would order new 763's. Is that dead? UA is indeed interested in adding a few 763s to its fleet but those will come in the form of HA's 763s which are due for retirement this year. They are young frames, in good shape and satisfy UA's requirements. I be...Jump to post
I changed my plans, now my virtual airline will fly GRU-LIM-NRT with A350ULR ULR !!!! Your virtual airline?! Are you playing a fantasy airline game? no, I am not olaying a game, jusy imagining possible ways for a RU_NRT route with 1 stop, the viability of this route greetings There are dozen ways o...Jump to post
We had a thread about 777 utilization by KLM in the past that was very cool.... Who was the OP? That was HB-IWC if I recall correctly. It's an old thread. Before the A330, B773 and B787 entered the fleet. But the B767 and the MD11 were still around. Although the B767 was in the process of retiremen...Jump to post
How on earth did the Brazilian government acquire one "golden share" that has the power to determine the entire strategic fate of Embraer? For such a valuable asset what was the cost? Is this just another of the many subsidies in the industry? Check EMB history and you will undestand. wha...Jump to post
The talks are on hold as the parties await word from the Brazilian government on whether it would sign off on the combination. The government has a so-called golden share in Embraer that gives it veto powers over such a transaction. Embraer is a crown-jewel of Brazilian industry, and it’s far from ...Jump to post
Embraer stock skyrocketed after this piece of news came up. The Brazilian government has golden shares on Embraer, giving the government veto power over a potential takeover. However, I'd think they'd be tempted to allow the takeover to go through as they need to balance the federal budget ASAP. it...Jump to post
The 777 is a big plane for LATAM. . The 777s have almost double the business class capacity that the A350 has in their configuration This is why I liked. I git upragded to C in ALL 77W flights that I traveled in the last 2 years. In the 350 in only about 50%, evn sometimes beeing number 2-3 in the ...Jump to post

On Varig 707 captain was involved in two crashs. One pax e one cargo 707.
according to some news in brazil (I will look for it) the stall was due some movement in test equipament in cargo bay shifitinh the center of gravity in the stall test. Something like the 747F in Kabul... But the pilots have altitude and speed to recover.Jump to post
+ NZ must also have quite a few B777's & B787's sitting at LAX & SFO all day "sunbaking" & paying parking fees. NZ only has 1x 777 daily that spends the day at LAX as NZ1/2 travel onto LHR. NZ 5 arrives 11:40am then departs again at 10:30pm as NZ5. With SFO NZ8 arrives at Midd...Jump to post

The only feelings hurt here seem to be those of certain Brazilians that still can't reconcile with the fact that their largest airline is in Chilean hands now. Corporations from all over the world own businesses in other countries. The question that relates to this thread is whether Lan is a good o...Jump to post
Off topic, but I have to say it. JJ became a crap of an airline since it was bought by LA. Used to be my first choice always, but not anymore. Even the FIDELIDADE program was destroyed. So sad. I have to agree! Getting worse every day Why do you say that? Can you develop your ideas, what is wrong w...Jump to post
I think the A350s and 77W are fairly new. Where is Latam sending the 77Ws to? JFK, MIA, and what else? From GRU only? Was F Class removed already? I think they were also due to receive some updates in the form of changes to the upholstery of the seats and new fully horizontal J-class seats. Latam w...Jump to post
One of those frames is old, but the rest have line numbers in the 900s and 1000s. Didn't LAN change some of that order to Dreamliners? Many of the LATAM Brasil 763s haven't even reached their first D check yet (being between 3-5 years old). ...and to add - more comfortable passenger seating. A 2-3-...Jump to post

Great post. I'm surprised (...) and the lack of South American flights other than Uniteds GRU. It's a hell of back track for most connections destinations. All other major hubs linked to GRU from US3 are better localized (IAH, MIA, ATL, DFW and even JFK, EWR, DTW or IAD). That said this flight is g...Jump to post
This painting process is being really slow... I think that not even the company is really comfortable with this new livery/logo. That's what I was thinking but as well LATAM isn't making profit. Ps I am 100% sure about the Profit. Yes. The bottomline is that the people from Santiago does not have a...Jump to post
I think that the problem is not only the brazilian economy as other companies are increasing their flights to Brazil. I do believe that the Chilenians does not have a clue in what they can do with the former TAM....
BTW I flew MAD-GRU last week in the 350 in business... Nice ride....
I agree with this. Also, Brazil will eventually start to do better and it may be a good plane for secondary Brazilian markets. Maybe some other Latin American flying when the region is strong like ASU or COR. At some point they will have to put the 787 to these routes (like CNF) or cancel them. The...Jump to post
MIA-TATL flights currently operated by 763s are the more realistic ones to go 788 eventually. I say eventually because the 763s are likely to consolidate in MIA/DFW as their numbers dwindle, so it won't be soon. I agree with this. Also, Brazil will eventually start to do better and it may be a good...Jump to post

There is a strong rumor that they are coming to Brazil ( at least 1-2, the others to Iran Air). Routes: I don't know
I guess yes, but it can be just small adjustments.... You an also add in the list LAX-GRU going from 787 to 772. LATAM on the other hand is still dealing with internal problems. They cannot walk 10 meters straight without a adjustment from the Chile's friends. And I don't know if it is cause or cons...Jump to post
