Re: Lufthansa to launch FRA-AUS in May '19, switch FRA-KIX to MUC, increase MUC-ICN, MUC-SIN, new MUC-BKK

Much like what happened in SAN, there will probably be a quiet discontinuation of the DE flight sometime around the end of October at AUS. They cancelled SAN about a month and a half after LH announced service. DE generally doesn't try to compete with LH for the same pool of traffic at non-Star All...

Re: Lufthansa to launch FRA-AUS in May '19, switch FRA-KIX to MUC, increase MUC-ICN, MUC-SIN, new MUC-BKK

Austin airport's website confirms that Condor will be back again next year flying May 30, 2019 to September 26, 2019. The airline had very high load factors this season with competition from British Airways and Norwegian, and it will be interesting how they do with competition from Lufthansa as well!

Re: Austin Texas Thread - 2018

Just to clarify, the city does not choose which carriers use the South Terminal. It's privately operated so airlines can choose on their own whether or not to move there. Frontier Airlines was initially planning to move, but it did not in the end. While probably not possible, the best idea for AUS's...

SAS Adds Flights to AUS for SXSW

SAS will be adding two flights to Austin during SXSW in 2018. The airline will fly the route with an Airbus A330. This flight is in addition to Delta's announcement to operate flights between Austin and Amsterdam during SXSW next year. http://www.sasgroup.net/en/sas-offers-direct-flights-to-the-sout...

Re: Future Hubs: Where could it happen?

Many airlines serving Austin are constantly expanding in the city and adding new routes. With nine new gates being built, scheduled for completion in 2019, more expansions planned, and the South Terminal just opening, the airport is planning to add much more space so that if airlines want they can e...

Re: Best Major Airport in the US

While not one of the largest in the US, Austin (AUS) is definitely one of the best airports in my opinion. The airport has amazing food options, live music, great views from the gates, and in general is a very easy airport to fly out of.

LAX Terminal Shuttle Question

Quick question about LAX's Terminal shuttles: I plan on flying to LAX soon and was wondering if I can board the bus on the apron that connect the terminals without having a boarding pass for a flight deprating from one of those terminals? Looks like an amazing shuttle to do some plane spotting from!...

Condor in Austin

How is Condor doing in Austin? Do you see them expanding to more flights in the future? They currently fly twice weekly between May and October.

Norwegian to Texas?

I've noticed Norwegian has increased operations to the US recently but does not fly to Texas.

Will they begin flights to the state? If so, which city will get them first?

On Thursday, the Austin Airport will be reopening the South Terminal. Allegiant will initially use it as well as Sun Country when they begin flights in August. Frontier may also move to the terminal, though it has not yet been confirmed.

Re: AUS international airlines any new ones?

Currently the airport has British Airways to LHR and seasonal Condor to FRA. Also Aeromexico, Volaris, and Air Canada.

A flight to Asia would be nice. I think Japan Airlines or ANA could make it happen with a 787!

What happened to the EK 777 business class?

New to the forum, so I'm not sure if there is already a thread discussing this. Emirates unveiled their new business class earlier this year and said that new 777's will be delivered with the new seats staring in November. There has been no announcement regarding the seats recently, so curious to se...

Alaska/Virgin America New Hub?

With the merger of Alaska Airlines and Virgin America, would Austin TX make sense as a hub for them? The city has the target audience of both airlines and both are doing good in the city.
Interested to see what you guys think!
