Since the plane is such a slow seller, ,probably got a real good deal on them.Jump to post
2 different markets.
AA just made $450M and UA $900M. No need to go afterthe clientle of an LCC
Some interesting tid-bits on MIA hub. As previously stated, UA kept going back and forth internally do we do MCO or MIA as a Southern hub. Eventually MCO was to be the focus city but with the PA BK things changed rather quickly. When PA was going down UA looked at their route structure and determine...Jump to post
Safety could also be an issue. I talked to DL crew members and there are stories of the crews met plane side by darkened window Van's and armed guards as escourt to hotels. Then the guards take up positions in halls and crews being told not to leave hotel. Scenario repeated for return. I also heard...Jump to post
Cue the cancellation of the 350s in 3....2....1
I would be very surprised if indeed this isn't just a rumor. SIN is a financial capital and SEA, with all due respect, doesn't have that many business located near it not to mention a small population of just 724,000. There are so many other cities that offer much more than SEA, with all due respect.Jump to post
I see UA asking for the AA slot and moving it to DEN. That would make the most sense for them. MSP is a recipe for disaster in that it will draw locals only, and how many of them will take this given other options?
Looks like the DL Route Planning boys are back to their dart board for new markets.

Wow, 77 and 78? I wasn't close and the majority of A-netters were not born.
No laptops, computers, PTV, and your "phone" was a glass booth on the corner with a sliding door. Bring lots of quarters.
Does anyone know when these planes were built? 17 years in storage, I'm thinking early 80's?Jump to post
Well it looks like the airline and one of its employee's has some explaining to do after an off duty FA, in uniform, engaged in lavatory sex with a gay porno star and the "results' were posted online. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6286847/Delta-flight-attendant-faces-firing-clips-mil...Jump to post
Not another "maybe the 380 can..." thread.
Just let it die. With only a couple of airlines, no one wants this plane. No one will convert it into a restaurant and it wont be anything more than a future trivia question.
Enough of this albatross.
So Passenger A brings on their squirrel. And since the emo-squirrel will be hungry at some point, A also brings along emo-squirrel's favorite nuts. Not just any nuts, but A says specially bred nuts that can only be bought in some far away land and cost $1 Bajillion dollars. But true to form in today...Jump to post
I read a release earlier that said the goal is to get DEN departures up to 500 in next couple of years.
Only issue is these are more UAX flights...ugh.
The plane was doomed from the start be it passengers or freight. With the exception of a couple of buyers, or really only one, there isnt a need for it. To try and now make it a freighter or exclusive carrier of legos to their manufacturing point is not going to happen. Everything has a life expecta...Jump to post
No, this is how co operates. UA didn't order piecemeal, instead they made large order announcements. Except CO didn't have money to buy widebody aircraft even for 9 orders like 10 years ago. I suspect this is for the 763 that are supposedly not going to get Polaris. ??? Where did you get that nugge...Jump to post
Except that co loves Boeing. They were an all Boeing fleet before UA, and didn't like the 320 until it was forced upon them. The only reason they are buying them now is because they are cheap and they can "use and abuse" them then dump them. We will see, but my vote is the 350 never makes ...Jump to post
I'll reask the question, what does UA get out of merging with B6 that they want? FLL is not a southern hub, it's a Florida/Caribbean/Latin America hub. Nice to have, but worth $10 billion when IAH exists as an ok substitute, not to mention the Caribbean and Latin American coverage from EWR and IAD?...Jump to post
Hey UA, -Since your the only one not flying into JFK. -Since you both fly 320s and 319s. -Since you are short of DL and AA by 150 and 200 aircraft, and B6 has 189 planes. -Since they have hubs where you don't and would compliment your existing ones, plus give you a Southern one you have been looking...Jump to post
I understand MXP is a business center and not a leisure market, but closing in the middle of summer for 90 days? WX is not an issue the majority of the year given its physical location.
No wonder Italy is in the shape its in with decisions such as this.
AA has a few "issues" going on right now, that is why they are retreating to what they term, "fortress hubs. " After hearing them stumble and play the 'standard response' to various analysts questions, I think it will be a while until the hit the Asian market. Face it, they have ...Jump to post
It is great that SFO is adding all these new gates in anticipation of additional flights. But until the environmental wackos and the NIMBY mentality changes, the airport which restricts flights daily and hasnt built a new runway, will still be a mess. But it sure will look pretty and new.Jump to post
Why is this news or even a post? An airline is coming out with a schedule, ok. I would suggest that when the sked is out and it shows NEW destinations, then a thread opens up.
This is resemblance of fan boys work.
Do we really have to hash out every situation where two people interact and get offended at each other? Yes, because calling the police for a customer because of their skin colour is ridiculous and must be called out every time it happens. Where did you make the leap that the State Police were call...Jump to post
Its unfortunate, but when this took place it was a 'distraction from her duties' as it would be in any business. In this particular case, she is "...there for your safety." Issue isn't pushing mental issues 'underground,' it is that these three pilots falsified an application to the Federal Government. There are consequences for actions and these guys, especially the USAF one, fully understand their are penalties they will pay.Jump to post
Conversation is on long haul international equipment, which obviously needs crew rest seats. Domestic doesnt have such a need.Jump to post
Since AI is famous for cannibalizing equipment to try and keep planes flying, is it possible that a mistake was made on their part? It wouldn't be surprising.Jump to post
Don't know how much airline experience you have besides sitting in a seat, but marketing has direct influence over sked's.Jump to post
I am shocked that AF doesn't fly this route and hasn't since 9/11; a long time ago. I never checked for it just assuming they had been flying all along.
This was a no-brainer, someone in marketing at AF needs to go.
How old are the planes in question? I read once that the first 5 years are covered by the manufacture for warranty. If that is true, then I would think most of the planes would not have an issue. Unless, they are talking about RR. As for missing crew, its AI obligation to know what staffing they nee...Jump to post
UA has never had scheduled service into LGW. But about the same time of the acquisition of the PA LHR routes, it was kicked around the home office to begin service to all 3 LON airports at the same time; this way all bases would be covered. However, once reality sunk in that their were not enough ai...Jump to post
The issue isn't the 777, its the AA route system that isn't able to support a 777 any more. There was a time where they could effectively use the plane on certain city pairs and given the freight, on international segments. But as AA has faced additional competition, added Mr Parker and his entourag...Jump to post
