RIP Francis.
Only met him once at one of the LHR meets with the A.Net groovy gang back in the early 2000's. He was a nice guy and worked extremely hard to try and understand the condition that affected him to try and benefit others born with it.

Jump to postI missed that cheeky one from MCO airport heading to International drive a couple of years ago, the one where you've just got out of the airport after a long flight, are getting used to driving an unfamiliar car on unfamiliar roads, whilst trying to navigate and not crash. If you click on "earth" you can change the settings on the map and check winds at different levels, although I'm not sure exactly what levels each hpa relate to, but obviously, the lower the spa, the higher it will be. You can also check ocean currents too, and if you click on the map, it gives you ...
Jump to postUsually it's to do with the wind. Always a good idea to search google for a current wind chart, that can usually answer your questions with regards to "strange" routings. Jump to postLook closely at the pics showing the tug, and you will see only 1/2 the towbar is connected. It's the shear pins that have broken on the towbar, as the tug tried to take the corner, usually that is an indication of being towed too fast for the corner, or poor maintenance of the towbar. As the tug ha...
Jump to postMy take on them is, if I use their stuff, aftershave/gum etc, I'll pay. If I only wish to wash my hands, I won't as I shouldn't have to pay to ensure personal hygiene. Jump to postIn the UK they are calibrated every 1-2 years IIRC, but they do develop errors. I've worked on desks that indicated as much as 5kgs with nothing on them, so you had to take that into account for each bag, so you didn't unfairly charge people excess. Here's a cheeky little tip, if your bag is heavy/o...
Jump to postUsing the reverse also affects brake cooling times, which can be important if you are on a tight turn round, as if the brakes are too hot, then they may not work as expected on take off in the event of an RTO. Jump to postI think its a option on most Boeing types as some of the 737's I fly have it fitted.
