KXAN is reporting a new domestic carrier will be announced Wednesday 11/14. NK? I think that it will likely be NK starting service out of AUS because AA, DL, UA, WN, AS, B6, G4, and F9 all already serve AUS. The only other possibility I can think of is HA starting service out of AUS to Hawaiian des...Jump to post

Thank goodness it reverts. It was the worst TATL flight I have ever taken 10 hrs on a old 744 with crappy vents, no power, no IFE, uncomfortable seats etc. Was it really airborne for ten hours? Austin - LHR is less than 5,000 miles. I have enjoyed several U.S. West Coast - Europe flights that took ...Jump to post
^^ When did Austin get 747 service or when are they going to? Last time I checked it was operated with a 777. BA has been flying the 744 LHR-AUS all summer, I believe it ends October 26th and reverts to the 777 for the winter schedule. Thank goodness it reverts. Taking a more in-depth look at reports from August 2018, and a few months before, it seems like B6 has been in the red as far as pax numbers. August 2018 shows a total of 51,279 vs 2017 carrying 53,292. What is with the shake up here? BOS: B6, DL, WN - all 1x daily. FLL: B6, WN - both 1x daily and ...Jump to post

As stated earlier in the thread, there isn’t enough demand for two carriers to FRA. LH has the advantage of using United for their club at both SAN and AUS, and connections into these airports as feeding. LH also offers significantly more connections out of FRA too. Now they just need to update the...Jump to post
I think I'm looking forward to lower taxes on Lufthansa award tickets personally. The taxes to go to London get me every time. Not having flown on BAs 77W on any route, but flew on the 744 out of Austin in Economy, it will be welcomed as it was not a great experience. Norwegian in Premium is great,...Jump to post
They dropped it after all didn’t they. I still wonder about this dynamic LH and Condor have, considering this is the second time I’ve noticed DE making way for Lufty. I did think it was quite a few seats to Germany by two carriers. The only US airport where the two seem to coincide seems to be SEA....Jump to post

Congrats on getting LH. Have a feeling DE won't be back much like what happened at SAN. LH > DE, so no worries there. Yeah, that's my thought as well. Looks like booking opens up on the 4th of October so will be interesting to see what equipment they send. Lufthansa's Twitter doesn't want to give u...Jump to post
Depends how you define growth but I don't see anything much being likely. My own personal opinion, for all that we knock it on the forum, UA has improved their service to surpass AA on that arena in the past two years...however, I still think AA beats UA on their hard product (IFE, seat comfort, etc). UA on EWR-OKC used to be an E145. I guess it didn't survive the upgauging. For whatever reason, United j...Jump to post
Slightly off topic, but is there an alternative to how AA and UA would expand from AUS other than adding frequencies or upgauging from expanding hubs (basically adding just seats)? Basically what would make a stop at one of their hubs more favorable over perhaps a nonstop with DL? I guess upgauging...Jump to post

Even though DL is #4 in AUS now, that doesn't mean DL won't grow in AUS. We have been down that path in NYC and LAX. AUS is not NY or LA. But it is growing fast. And unlike other threads, this is at least partially based in reality. From the post above, they were stating that O&D is actually larger at AUS (9.8) than CLT (9.2). CLT is just a low cost connecting airport, so US dba AA feeds a lot of connections through it. CLT and AUS aren't even on the same plane. Agreed. No one is building two, 30 gate courses at AUS. That idea is fantasy.
