Re: Airbus Signals Job Cuts for A380 and A400M Projects

I understand that the A380 wing factory at Broughton has already re-located a great many people to other areas of the site, mainly to Single Aisle.
No-one will be made redundant. Too much work elsewhere for that.

Re: Virgin Atlantic cancels order for 6 A380s

People at Broughton have known for years that Virgin would never take these a/c. The order has been dead in all but name for a very long time.
Nothing more than tidying up the order book.

No sign of any snow for our area on tonight's BBC weather forecast for the week. Will believe it when I see it.

I assume so, don't know when though. I believe the first major aircraft parts are due in final assembly shortly.

Re: Airbus A380 Production/Delivery Thread 2018

As I understand it, anticipated deliveries for 2018 currently stand at a total of 14 aircraft.
Comprising 10 Emirates, 3 Singapore and 1 Qatar.

Re: Emirates signs a commitment for 36 additional A380's

No 'plus' for these. I can see that when the time comes for NEO, the winglets and everything else that was being studied will be wrapped up in it, giving a potentially great fuel saving. Until then we will only see minor continuous improvement.

This is great news. The Broughton factory has had a great boost today.
I seem to remember saying a while back 'the orders will come', now let's see what BA do.

Vasu, Cunard, We visited Albania on a day trio from Corfu last year, had a day around Saranda visiting the town and Butrint National Park. Great weather, pleasant seafront, friendly people. If it gets developed Albania will thrive as a tourist destination. Turkey will continue to recover, we have be...

Just what the world needs for the New Year....yet another 'The A380 is dead' thread, with most digs unsurprisingly from the other side of the Atlantic.
The orders will come, and A380 is not in it's grave just yet.

Re: 80 meters wingspan limit and A380 upgrade

No 'new' wing as such was discussed for Plus, but there were various aerodynamic tweaks on the table. Certainly nothing like 330 that I ever heard, that would be too radical a change. To be fair, as Mobile is an exclusively Single Aisle site, I wouldn't expect any serious A380 info to come out of th...

Re: Airbus Working With Emirates on New Order for Flagship A380

Slug71 is right - Emirates don't want Plus. Cabin or anything else....... However we will see another order at some point for 'classic' (as it is now being called) to keep the line ticking over until engine tech gives what Emirates want, then the efforts already put in for Plus will be incorporated ...

Re: Dubai Air Show 2017 - Airbus Orders

No matter whether it is because of buy back discussions or checking fine print of the deal, the non-order so far has definitely depressed the mood here in the UK after a hopeful weekend. We now wait yet another day for the morale boost the factory needs!

An order that size plus maybe another smaller one will nicely fill the gap until NEO can happen, at current rates. Fingers crossed!

Re: A380 Production Thread Part 19

Slash787 When Emirates agreed to take the ex-Sky a/c it was agreed to bring them to the current standard, so in addition to cabin and other customer-specifics a working party from the UK embodied around 20 or so modifications to the wings, which had been introduced after the a/c were first produced....

Re: Airbus Working With Emirates on New Order for Flagship A380

Plus will definitely involve the geometry and wingtip changes. Short of NEO (that Emirates would prefer), the Plus will give any buyer improved economics until any new engine is ready, so hopefully the likes of BA will come in for a few as well as Emirates.

Re: 10th Anniversary of the A380

A380 is a wonderful aircraft, I have only flown on it once but the ten hour flight was the best I have experienced, quiet and smooth (yes, even the landing). Hopefully at the Dubai Airshow there will be some long-overdue good news for the programme.
Here's to the next 10 years!

Evening all. Long time follower posting for the first time. Slash787 & hayzell777 - the ex-Sky a/c have not only had cabin work but also been updated with several modifications which were incorporated into production build after they were built, so I am told. This will make them the same standar...
