It is not really high demand.. 2 787-8 are replacing 3 737-800's, which is actually a slight net loss in seats. It is a way to use the 787's and the crews are all already international. It seems like AA has a few more 787-8's right now than international routes to fly them on. They are also flying ...Jump to post

RE: ME3/QR....Wouldn't the facilities also be completely inadequate for these full service airlines? QR is flying to places like UTP in Thailand now - compared to that, I don't think OOL is that bad for a full-service L/H carrier? Cheers, C. For a full service carrier like QR, OOL wouldn't be great...Jump to post

Royal Brunei reevaluating Australia services. BNE, PER, DRW, OOL all being considered with A320neo. Given earlier discussion seems like VietJet is a likely choice here, yeah?
Would think BNE would be added by most likely NH but maybe JL. Whoever gets in first, both wouldn't surviveJump to post

QF has applied to the IASC for an additional 1250 seats to Indonesia. Coming from the upgauging of aircraft (B737 > A330) and additional services by QF or JQ. http://iasc.gov.au/applications/index.aspx#Indo1 This increase is probably targeted at DPS which doesn't surprise me. I believe the issue is Malindo has decided they make more money/get a better yield selling the flight as BNE/MEL-DPS and BOM-KUL-DPS for example as opposed to BNE-DPS-KUL-BOM. I doubt QF would launch BNE-ICN when KAL can only make it work 4 weekly with no nonstop competition, and that's feeding a hub in ICN. Yes, but QF does have 1) a hub at BNE and 2) a big FFP base, that it can feed the flight with - those don't support KE's BNE service, but may do for QF, if QF starte...Jump to post
Well if TG is reducing a daily 788 to 4x/week I'd say BNE-BKK is not long for this world. I note the evening departures are the flights being cut. I'm still trying to ascertain if Air China is paying the BNE Marketing money back after converting their flights to seasonal after only 8 months. Also w...Jump to post
With the new Indonesia - Australia FTA, what new routes between these two countries could develop out of increased trade? SUB, with a metro population of ~10 million, seems like a large gap in Australia's connectivity. Could SYD / MEL - SUB on MAX's or NEO's be viable? I also wonder if we might see...Jump to post
Lots of cuts to TG's Australia services from end of October onwards... don't have full details but apparently all ports are impacted. Looks like BNE being reduced to 4x weekly. Here's an old article regarding BNE:
Here's some data a user from Skycity found relating to Brazil - Australia stats: Interestingly, QLD performs 2nd in where Brazilians live or visit. We would have to be a chance of direct flights down the track and i also know that Brazil is on the 2020 TEQ research plan for developing tourist nations...Jump to post

Obvious airlines to narrow it down to are PR and 5J. Any options as to which one, and likely initial frequency? 2-3x weekly A321neo? No info of that such. I was thinking 2-3x weekly on PR with A321neo. If it was 2x weekly, I reckon MNL-BNE would be increased to 5x weekly so that BNE would be daily....Jump to post

I wonder if EK is also looking at reshuffling the BNE schedule. At the moment their three daily departures from BNE are at 2100, 2350 and 0235. I’m of the opinion EK need to retime EK435 for a mid morning departure, roughly 9-10am. Saves the 77W/A380 (depends on the time of the year) sitting on the...Jump to post

Interesting that a startup would order more A350s than A321s. It looks similar to Bamboo Airways but more biased towards long haul. CI to send 77W to MEL starting 10/29, replacing A359. Frequency unchanged (3-weekly). Source: https://www.ttnmedia.com/?p=35721 I wouldn't get to excited.
