Why is DeerJet selling their 787? I recently saw a video by Sam Chui about its interior. Why are they offloading it that quickly? It is their mother company, HNA Group, selling the 787-8 BBJ. Main reason is to reduce debt load after global shopping spree for past few years. In short, credit crunch ...Jump to post

Delta may be deferring for the 251t version, which would have roughly the same range as the Boeing 777-200ER. But the 359 by default already has the range of the 77E and even more. The fact that DL elected to get theirs with a lower MTOW means they don't intend to use them on longer missions, like ...Jump to post
Why take less A350s? The A330-900 clearly does not have the range to fly many of Delta's pacific long haul routes except for the ones from Seattle. Some are repositioning flights. I've seen one-off 777-200LR flights on this route. Several times I have also seen the 767-300ER sub in for the MD-88s. Here's a recap of what you will most likely get for a flight into any of the major 3 NYC airports (JFK, LGA, EWR) From EWR: MD-88, Boeing 717, occasi...Jump to post
Such conflict is happening now with the Max9 and the 738 fleet numbers... More likely some desk jockey just made a purely random decision. Someone at CO did the same with the 762 and 753 fleet numbering too.. UA's aircraft numbers are 4 digits, so 0754 (B737-700) will not conflict with 7754...Jump to post
Last: and we’ve discussed this before many, many times... but the First Class interiors of the 752’s are becoming worse and worse every time I’m on one. Last week from Denver to Newark the 752 I was on was in such bad shape it would almost worry someone if she was air worthy! In seat 1A, the wall p...Jump to post
Its kinda funny because you say in that blog entry that you've never flown Virgin America. Pretty hilarious someone writes a whole post about the loss of an airline that they’ve never flown on. Think it was addressed up thread but all AS planes coming out of VCV are only painted. Read somewhere that the first 737-700 (N619AS) and A320 (think it is N283VA) were at GSO getting their interiors redone. First 737-700 with new interior (N619AS) is back from being retrofitted and comes online th...Jump to post

C919 maybe using “western elements” at least initially, but you can bet China is developing their own engine (in progress) and their own avionics (well, or “modify” it and call it Chinese). It is definitely a Chinese airplane, though. There's actually an engine called the CJ-1000A (Chang Jiang 1000...Jump to post

As I've previously mentioned, United will keep the A350. They will arrive within the timeframe of the first pmUA 777 retirements, and will (along with the 787-10) replace the 777-200ERs. That timeframe is also when the 797 will start to be delivered, coinciding with 757 replacements as well.Jump to post
39M N37508 all bright and shiny in new paint VCVBFI 1Nov. Wouldn’t be surprised if UA has the keys and driving it off the lot by the 5th. :airplane: According to UA staff it will be delivered some time within the next two weeks. Also, I noticed that a lot of the B39Ms have registrations beginning w...Jump to post
The A220 looks beautiful inside and out. Also, I like Delta's commitment to providing seat back IFE even on short/medium haul aircraft while UA and AA seem to be moving towards only providing app-based streaming entertainment. Even though I usually download a few movies or tv shows to my phone befo...Jump to post

Article: https://skift.com/2018/10/26/jetblue-founder-reveals-details-on-his-new-tech-focused-international-airline/ Interesting quotes from the article: Neeleman also claimed that the new airline, which he said probably won’t be named Moxy, will fly hundreds of routes, probably most without any no...Jump to post
Great looking aircraft. These can't replace the Maintenance Delay 88s fast enough. The A321s are actually taking care of that. Every time we say hello to a brand-new A321 or B739, we say goodbye to an old MD88. Hey, I mourn the loss of the Maddogs too! But aside from the Avgeek sentimental value, t...Jump to post
I find it funny that some people defend that AA is doing the right thing in having a product that lags behind UA, much less DL, B6, etc.
AA management is a joke. They lack more common sense, intuition, and critical thinking skills than most people.
I wanted the A380 instead
But hey, finally something to replace the musty A330 and A340 aircraft on the New York route!
I don't know why people think United is canceling or converting the A350 order. Before, the A350-1000 was intended to be a smaller replacement for the 747s. Now that there is the 777-300ER, they converted the order to A350-900s and pushed the timeframe back. This timeframe coincides with the beginn...Jump to post

Does anyone know when United took the aircraft section of their website down? It has to be in the last couple weeks, because I checked it fairly recently to see if the 78J or 77E with Premium Plus had been added. I hope it's just temporary while they are adjusting these maps. Also note that because of fleet commonality they are more likely to replace the A320s with 7M8s. The A320s are the worst aircraft in UA's fleet, smaller proportion of FC seats compared to the 738, no seatback IFE, thinnest seats in the entire fleet, and smallest legroom out of all the aircraft as we...Jump to post

Note that the CS100 has the range to fly transcons if needed.
And for the Francophiles: The aircraft is coded as "WCS" in the system and has "CS100" painted below the nose for the ground crew to see.
The problem is, PE fares on EWR-SIN are routinely $1000-$1300 roundtrip, and there are also many $3000 roundtrip fares for business, too. It's cheaper than flying legacy economy to Europe, Japan, and many other similar markets.Jump to post
Again, not true. Delta has only said that they plan on a 50% reduction in 50 seat flying from 2017 to 2022... But this was the original plan. However, a 50% reduction is significant because UA is gobbling up all of the CRJ200s Delta discarded and AA is reactivating up to 50 ERJ-140s. Again, not tru...Jump to post
