Some people have all the luck! Think what you would have missed if he had taken the subway. Nice rare pic!!

Ah, Mark .... still bitter because you weren't invited to the pre-nuptial piss-up and gourmet meal at the Garbage Plate?? Nice review - could stand a bit of editing though, as usual. I had completely forgotten you were there until I noticed the thread. <img src="/discussions/graphics/smilies/bi...
Jump to postThanks Alex. Next year is a big one - maybe I will have a post-celebratory drink in Belgrade in June or July 07? Part of the 2007 World Birthday Tour!!

Jump to postI was on a train going to work, and was about 16. These two nice-looking girls were looking at me. One was whispering and pointing, and the second one (who was really cute) was trying to sneak in some casual, discreet looks by pretending to randomly look around the carriage. Then they would whisper ...
Jump to postNice report, Ken. Brings back fond memories. The new Business Class product is amazing, and Thai service is always exceptional. They are one of the really classy carriers, aren't they. I think only Cathay rivals tham.

Well, thats what happens when you pick seats and hope the middle one stays empty (says he, speaking from experience lol). The middle person is guaranteed to offer to take the window or the aisle to 'let you two sit together'. Anyway, nobody to blame but yourselves - nice try though. Probably he/she ...

Jump to postI'm a bit surprised the percentage in favour of a republic (with the Charles as King factor) isn't higher. I'm not sure that he would endear himself with time, although he may in Britain. I think the more likely scenario is that he will just garner some sort of benign acceptance among the undecided,...

Longreach covered most of it. Fremantle has plenty to see, especially if you like ocean and yacht-related stuff. It has a lot of atmosphere. Rottnest is worth a day, and the wineries are good - Margaret River and the Swan Valley both have attractions. Outside of Perth, there's Monkey Mia and Kalbarr...

A couple of days is OK. It's interesting enough for that amount of time. Jump to postThis ferry was built not far from where I live - at Fremantle, Western Australia. Jump to postOh my - a post to acknowledge a popular piece of theatre turns into a fight to see who has the biggest operatic dick-equivalent. As a notion it's not too bad, but I doubt that it will happen. Community service is done best by people who really want to do it. Jump to post'The Pirate Queen' could be interesting. The title reminds me of the late Jean Peters in the movie "Anne Of the Indies" which I am sure nobody here is old enough to remember. He started off as the romantic lead in "Tammy and the Bachelor" with Debbie Reynolds back in the 1960s. It was very popular. Jump to postAbsolutely amazed that there was nothing on our Perth evening news about this! Quite astonishing, given the Emirates connection, the horseracing connection (both 'newsworthy') to say nothing of the non-TV-newsworthy fact that he was a man of huge significance in the Gulf.

I found the Shanghai Airlines 757s to be noisier than other 757s I have flown on, (United, BA, etc.) even sitting only 9 or 10 rows back, but they are still great aircraft. I find the 777 pretty noisy.
