What are the categories of flight simulators, and what are the basic criteria for the categories. Starting from something like Microsoft flight simulator, to a full motion simulator where you can go right into a plane and fly, without ever really flying beforehand.

I have seen this on AC's 777's aswell. They keep it open for takeoff and landing. I think its a safety measure, so you can see the fwd/aft cabin in the even of an emergency to make a better decision where to exit.

As far as I know System Operation Control (SOC) is responsible for weight and balance. They are located in the Toronto area near the airport (yyz). Thier are many issues that could have gone wrong with the weight and balance. But its worth the delay to make sure the aircraft is within its limits!

I think when a crew is over thier time, they give Operations a call and they work out some sort of over time deal where they make a few extra bucks.... Especially when its one of those borderline situatuions where the flight looks like it just might make it in time and then they go over by about 5 m...

So its easy to delay a flight due to maintainance and weather, but not so easy to tell 200 passengers they wont get ...

Air Canada did not need the 777, I have heard this might be part of their plan for 2009. With no money in the bank they can offer lower wage to ACGHS and knock off a few managers. Then come 2009 ACGHS will be no more. Its one idea I have heard from some guys in the airline industry.
