If this happened outside of the Xmas holiday season, this wouldn't be a discussion. On time yesterday was 80% with 98% completion factor for SWA. So things are moving. MDW is not the perfect airport but it captures billions in revenue for SWA over the years.

SWA allocated money long ago to the FA’s TA as well as the pilots pending AIP. That money will still be their when the FA’s vote on another deal at some point. SWA knows that their labor costs will rise. Only difference now it’s will accrue interest for bit longer.

The fact the union agreed to put it out and fail by such a huge margin is an embarrassment. TWU definitely has some soul searching to do. New leadership, new negotiators and polling. It will be a while for sure.

I wouldn't worry about a strike as much as pilot operational issues that may arise if negotiations don't improve. It maybe a long summer at SWA if they don't show some progress.
