Having flown once on a 77W 10 abread (AF) I rank every airline with such a configuration as far worse than Ryanair - ZERO star.
Jump to postHm, both state run economies can burn a lot of money on this experiment, a least half of it ending in the giant corruption ruling both countries today.
From specifications, this could become an alternative to a 15 years old used A330.

Jump to postBoeing has to gamble. Either they go to an all new design, with an ivestment far north of 50 bio $, end the popular 737 line and go into an unknown future, which might be bright or bancrupcy. Or they milk the 737 forever. Jump to postIf an aircraft does not sell for years, you better give it up. The 757, while popular in the US, failed on most markets because it was to heavy - this design fault was the reason for the success of the A320 which was the better 727 replacement.
Jump to postSo, no waste of 50 Bio $ for an all new aircraft before 2040.

Jump to postIf you want to sell tickets to self paying passengers, the only thing that matters is price. You can sell 10 times more tickets for a Ryanair seat 199€ than for a lie flat at 219€. The DFS230 for me is a candidate.
Emirates depends on the Sheikh of Dubais willing to invest billions of dollars into this toy. Dubai has no oil ond completly depends on money from Abu Dhabi. So a little argument between the two bloody tyranns would be more than sufficient.
Jump to postFor sure Boeing knows that this would be the answer to the MoM - earlier to market and cheaper, not less cost effcicient, slightly less fuel efficient.
