I've also seen an LH 744 at PER during an orchestra (?) tour. AY Also came to PER a couple of times, several years ago now. I remember it sparked arguments on here. From memory, it turned out it was a sequence of charter flights. Not "scheduled" as such, but enough to get them on the board...

The weather here in Perth has been pretty atrocious the last few days, but does anyone know the minima last night/this morning? PER recently finished upgrading the ILS equipment and lighting on 03/21 to prevent exactly this sort of thing. Bit of a shame if the first foggy morning of the cold season...

Paro, in Bhutan would have to be a contender. Its population is only 15,000 and there aren't a huge number of flights, but I believe the terrain around the field necessitates 100% jet ops.

I would imagine that in most instances (barring mergers), it would be to increase brand recognition or to consolidate different branches of the same airline.

A fairly recent example here in Oz: Virgin Blue and V Australia being sensibly changed to Virgin Australia.
