I work for HP and I approached upper management about starting further service into the south such as Little Rock, Birmingham, Jackson Mississippi, and other markets that CO currently dominat...
Jump to postFlyboy7974, Thanks for the support. I have a good feeling that AWA will come out of this airline funk, and will be right behind SWA as the nations 2nd biggest low fare carrier. It's nice to see some people are taking notice to what we are doing. Look out for AWA, we will be near the top in the near ...
Jump to postYou will get GREAT service. The in-flights wll treat you with the respect you deserve. As an employee of AWA, I want to thank you and your family for booking you on us. I don't get on this site much because of my work hours, but everytime something is posted about AWA it seems to always be negative....
Jump to postThis particular flight was a charter. We have been using our A320's and 757's as cargo charters as of late. I'm not sure what type of charter or who was on it, but look for more AWA aircraft in places you would not expect.
Jump to postRegardless of Southwest's profit, stock, and all that other stuff, AWA is now at or near the top of some of the DOT stats. I've been with AWA for almost three years and the improvement has been dramatic. It's nice to see that poeple are starting to take notice. I think we will always be compared to ...
Jump to postI'm very happy that at least part of your trip went well. I do wish that you would have had an easier time in PHX. It seems that our ground crew there pretty much does it for everyone. They are all my fellow employees, but I just wish they would not take out their frustrations on the passengers, whe...

I can't really see CO going after HP. We just bought back the last of the shares that CO had on us. CO management knows first hand how screwed up Bill Franke and his band of idiots are. They know that it would take a lot of time and money to fix the problems we have. However, I do like the idea of N...
Jump to postI am interested in getting my flight dispatcher's license through an accredited school. Can anyone tell me about any of the schools and what you thought of them if you attended. And, what a person actualy thinks of the job since being employed. Any advice would be appreciated!!!!!! Thank you.
Jump to postI saw one guy on Alaska try to carry on Moose antlers. I had one guy on AWA try to carry on a tuba. How it got by the ticket counter is anyone's guess.
Jump to postMost airlines do require that you are at least 18 yrs. old to work. Try going out to SFO or OAK and see what's out there. Good luck!!
Jump to postWhat do you think the top story of the new year in aviation will be? Who do you think will recieve more orders Boeing or Airbus? What mergers do you think will take place? Will the airlines really improve on customer service?
Jump to postI think that at this point Midwest Express is right at the top. They seem to be getting a bigger passenger base and they do cater to the business traveler. ContinentalEWR:Why would you avoid AWA at all costs? I bet if you were non-reving and got stuck somewhere and AWA was your only option you go fo...
Jump to postI don't think UA would look at AWA if (and that's a big if) the merger with USAIR dosen't go through. It's gotten to the point that no carrier wants to take over AWA because Bill Franke has done everything in his power to destroy this company. I too hope Franke's days are numbered. I've seen morale ...
Jump to postI work for America West Airlines as a ramp operations instructor. I also train Continental Airlines ramp differences.
Jump to postWhy AirTran? Some people think that with the recent TWA-AWA codeshare announcement that the two carriers will soon be one. I would go for it as long as Bill Franke had nothing to do with the company after the merger.
Jump to postIt's fair if there is room in 1st class. I don't think it would be right if non-revs were getting priority over revenue passengers. I fly a lot and very seldom do I get 1st class. But when I do it sure beats having to eat peanuts or whatever is in the "snack-sack"!!!!!
Jump to postEvertime I see a AA inflight, I think to myself that the uniform they are forced to wear looks like something my great-grandmother would wear. I agree. Most if not all of the US carriers need to change the inflight uniforms. The uniforms at HP aren't the greatest either. I have heard numerous compla...
Jump to postI hope and pray that TWA will never be allowed to disapear. I worked for TWA for about 2 yrs. and I enjoyed my time with them. As for TWA800, I don't think that will be a problem in the future as far as TWA's money issues. As an airline employee and an airline junkie, I hope that TWA does not meet t...
Jump to postI'm a ramp operations instructor for America West Airlines. I get to train people how to do all of the jobs that you get to see while standing in the windows. I also get to train a few people how to start the a/c apu and how to brake ride. I train people how to de-ice airplanes. I keep training reco...
Jump to postAmerica West will be just fine. We have already begun to address all of these things. There are a lot of people who would like to see us grounded, the FAA included, but I have a feeling that the new year will find AWA changing upper management. If this would get done, AWA would be one of the better ...
Jump to postClassic movie. We watched at work one night while we were waiting for a delayed flight. The boss came in when the apple pie scene was on. She got pissed and walked out after taking the movie and throwing it away. Never fear, we got it out of the trash and finished watching it.
Jump to postWhat's the worst lav dumping story you've ever heard? I was working at AA when one of our supervisors decided she was going to dump the lav on a MD80. She backed the truck in and hooked up the dump hose. She opened the flapper valve and pullled the T handle. THe hose popped off. She happened to be l...
Jump to postI collect anything that has to do with the airlines. I also just started collecting WWII stuff, but my prized collection are my NHL jerseys.
Jump to postJust like it says. I work the ramp for America West Airlines.
Jump to postWhen I worked for TWA in SMF, We had a push that required to get the towbar right at the max tow angle line on the nose gear door. It really was tough. There was always an Alaska MD80 at the gate behind it and a Southwest 737 at the gate next to AS. If you got to far over, you would come real close ...
Jump to postI will be flying on Midwest Express on 19 July from OMA to LAX. I was wondering how the service is. Thanks in advance.
Jump to postI'm glad to see that at least one thing went right for you Matt. I'm sorry that your return flight was not as good as your first flight. Jump to postI found out where a/c 185 will be on 08 Jun Matt. It will RON in LAX and then goes on to PHX and it look like it will be on the LAX-PHX route most of the day. It could end up in LAS at anytime if there are any flights that get cxld or any mechanical problems with outher a/c during the day. Hope this...
Jump to postSaw one of Delta's 757 with the new paint. I can't say I was impressed at all. It just seems to plain. No pun intended.
Jump to postI will let you know Wed 07 June what I found out. I will be at work until 2200. I will post it under the topic "Hey MattD". Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Jump to postFor everyone who says HP SUCKS at everything... look again at on time % and mis-handled bags....seems to me that we don't suck at everything. CAn we still improve? Hell yes. But we seem to be headed in the right direction.
Jump to postI'm getting tired of all the AWA bashing that seems to go on everywhere. We are going through some tough time right now. If you want to believe that story in Airwys magazine, that's fine. We do need to improve in some areas, but to say that we are the worst at everything is wrong. We work our asses ...

I've been a ramper for four years. I've enjoyed just about every minute of it. I've been doing ramp operations training for the past year. Jump to postOne Simple Question:
Who's going to win it all and Why?
I'm going with the Lakers. Even though they beat my Kings. They have the best center in basketball and they have the best coach. And then there is Kobe. Enough said.
America West is going to be just fine. The comments about us being doomed with the purchase of Airbuses is pretty funny. How can the purchase of an airplane doom an intire company? I think the entire indusrty is going to be suprised at HP's climb to the top.
Jump to postIt was a missle. I just can't believe it was anything to do with the center fuel tank. If you look a pictures of the wreckage, why is there no evidence of an explosion? It looks to me that the evidence shows an implosion. You can run the APU as long as you want as long as you have fuel to burn. Reme...
Jump to postI got started about 4 yrs. ago. I've enjoyed it. As far as getting a summer job at DFW, you would probably have to go to the airlines that serve DFW and ask. Most carriers do have an 18 year old age limit, but you never know. Good luck.
Jump to postI've seen some of the AA 738's doing touch and gos and I don't remember seeing winglets. I think they would look good though.
