Dauntless V. Avenger

Which is the better dive bomber?

My vote is for the Dauntless. They single handedly changed the course of the war at Midway.

The Grumman TBM ( Avenger ) was cheifly a torpedo bomber while the SBD ( Dauntless ) was a purpose built dive bomber-- They performed tow different roles...So we really can't say which one is better.

The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the US Navy's best dive bomber in WW2. She was the hero at the Battle of Midway in June 1942 for attacking and sinking four of the six Japanese aircraft carriers that were involved in the Pearl Harbor attack.

as far as i know, the helldiver was pure crap, it could never replace the dauntless as it was planned...the helldiver was too heavy and unexperienced pilots couldn't fly it too well...and besides, the dauntless looks much better  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
