Hey SU508, Yes the Passenger area is above the cargo compartment, and is accessible from the interior through a drop-down stairway in the rear of the cargo area. On the second picture, upper left hand corner is the center wing box. Just Fwd is the flight deck, and just aft is the troop compartment. Depending on the amount of cargo, they can also enplane pax from the side doors, through the use of a really tall air stair. The interior configuration is essentially the same as the AN-124, with the exception that the C-5 uses a floor roller and floor mounted winch system to load cargo, and the AN-124 uses an overhead gantry crane. Check out this website for some more great pics of both acft.

That´s great, I always was curious to know how is the "passanger configuration" on the C5 upper deck. Anybody knows where to find pictures of that deck?

The two C-5Cs have had the top troop deck removed so is can hold the US NAVYs DSRVs and other over sized loads

The two C-5C's are just old A-models that had a few mod's done to them. One of them was because of a ground fire that gutted the troop comp., and unsure why they picked the other one. Their tail #'s are 68-213, and 68-216.They are both assigned to the 60th, at Travis AFB, CA. They have reengineered the aft cargo pressure door, and side cargo doors to allow several types of large cargo items to be loaded. The most notable of which is NASA stuff, hence the unofficial nickname of "NASA birds".

Here is a photo I took while at Travis in 1990. I believe it's 68-213. You can see the fresh aluminum patch over the troop compartment. Also, you can tell the photo was taken while looking through the aft flight deck table window (left side).
