Remember when the AC-130 was big in the news a couple of months back? I saw several newspapers who showed photos of this procedure and labelled them as AC-130s striking ground targets ...I guess it might be effective if you were low and the enemy was standing in a pool of petrol ...

Nice video, though! Just one question - any ideas as to why the eject function releases, then pauses, then releases again?

The lights are just "flares", They are a counter misile equipment and just are usefull on infrared misiles.
As you could saw, they try to confuse the misile keeping it away from the heat of engines....
