Interesting. What is "class 26"? I gather it means damaged, but to what extent (W/O)?

T.J.

And does this mean I can add it to my list?

You heard correct.
It was my understanding that there were two large cracks in the main gear. (one per side)  Sad It sat at least the 2 weeks I was there before a MRT team brought in the parts. Should be back at McChord by now.

i heard from flight safety a few days ago that the C-17 in turkey has major structural damage and that Boeing says its no longer flyable and should be written off. ( class 26 )

I haven't heard anything like that. Of course I've been out flying all week so I'm not always in the know. I will check around for a more definitive answer.

It would be a shame if that were the case, all we need now is some stupid investigation into what's wrong and "is the whole fleet affected?" I'd imagine that it no longer in Turkey and has made it's way home to TCM. Of course, if what you say is true, I wouldn't want to be crew that had to fly it.

Not that I've heard. I've been out of the loop lately (not flying the system). I guess it was all a matter of time before someone dorked one up. They're literally getting trounced out there. The 781's in some of them is like reading the NY Times. Big grin

I'll give a follow up when I hear something.

Amen to that, we are the same in AWACS though most mission stuff gets fixed fast as we can't go onstation for 16+ hours without it  Big grin , though the write ups can be long, we have more hours on our 25 year old airframes than Buffs.

What? hey JohnM can you dispute what i said, just go out and look at a set of Forms on the Dover AFB flight line and you'll see what im talking about. light bulbs written up as burnt out, screws written up this missing or broke that missing or broke. yet they wont replace a thing.

I am for sure not an AGS cheerleader. BUT- there are a lot of people in AGS who bust ass all day long trying to keep probably the most maintenance intensive airplane in the inventory going. And for the record I'm not an APG type, but they get their asses kicked every day out there. One thing you flyers might forget is that we don't have a lot of people stay past one enlistment. So the qualified guys go TDY, become FCC's and that sort of thing. So a lot of what is left is reservists, 3 levels and the civilian and ART workforce. Don't know if you have been around long enough for the Gulf war, but the 781's got ultra ugly for that deal. This is bad, but it has been much worse. Hey want to help us out? When the gear goes up- turn MADAR off!
