A Vulcan In The Air Again?

Mon Aug 05, 2002 4:03 am

In 1993 the last flying Avro Vulcan was approaching a major check, so the Ministry of Defence, facing post cold war cost reductions, grounded the aircraft.

It was sold privately, as were others, one has engine/taxi runs from time to time.
But the last flying one, XH558, is in the hands of a dedicated team trying to get her flying again.

A difficult, complex, expensive task, with tons of bureaucracy to contend with, after all the Vulcan is a lot more complex than your average preserved warbird.

Here is these people's site, detailed and informative;

(I have absolutely no affiliation with this organisation, this is not a spam).

The Vulcan is a spectacular aircraft, once seen never forgotten.
In fact, I've really cut down on going to airshows since XH558 was grounded!
