F-4 Phantom...Big tough airplane that did all it was asked of and more.

BAE Lightning....Wings + engine....Fast and loud. Wish I had seen one fly...

A-10 Warthog...Tough down and dirty. Ugly as sin but near and dear to a Grunt's heart. Probably one of the best tactical airplanes ever.

A bit unoriginal but...

F-14: Maybe I've seen Top Gun too many times but I just love the plane.  Smile
Second by small margin F-15: King of the skies.

Mig21Bis: Lousy fighter by modern standards but fast, manouverable and above all very aggressive.

F15 Eagle: I love the sheer power and acceleration of the thing. Also it has a very distinctive profile which makes it very identifiable even 10,000 feet up.  Smile

SU-27 Flanker: Awesome looking, very manouverable.

F-14 Tomcat probably because I am ex U.S.N.and still think its the best the Navy has.
F-15 Eagle best all-around fighter out there.
A-10 Warthog,not actually a fighter,but one hell of a aircraft.

My favorite has got to be the F-15. I love the look of it. It's awefully big for a fighter, but it can outrun and outmaneuvre just about anything out there! Plus a friend i know flies them and he says he doesnt want to fly anything else!

Jordan

I've always been partial to the F-101 Voodoo. It's an aesthetic thing.

Most likely the F-16, I just love that plane. Second place would have to be the Su-33, that is just a bad a*s plane with the Cobra manuvers and stuff.

The SU-34/32FN is unique, though the Rafale and F-15 look better.

Post Korean war? None.

I'm old and have no use for the jet "fighters." I do not consider it aerial combat when an aircraft uses radar to lock it's missles onto another aircraft. Necessary indeed, just no .........I have no idea what word I am grasping at here.

I guess I remember when aerial combat meant that if you flew better than your opponent, you had a fair chance of living. I guess it goes back to the stories that my great grandfather told me about his WWI flying days.

The F-15 all the way though Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Mig-25. the size, power, noise, and speed of that thing and the "raw" construction is just awesome. it fulfilled all its duties and intentions and it did its job well. It was something soviet pilots were proud of. And it DOES outrun the F-15. My second favorite is the Tu-128 interceptor because it so somewhat mysterious and unknown. The planes that are all publicized get annoying. Not that they're bad but everytime I hear the word "F-16" or "stealth" i get shudders. They are just too overspoken about.

The best looking aircraft....hmmm

Saab built and aircraft, can't for the life of me remember the name.

It looked kind of like an F-100 except with intakes on the wingroot.

The Draken replaced it.

Any ideas people?

I haven't really got to answer that, have I?
Of course the Viper.

Best Russian fighter and also second overall would be the Flanker.

About the rest, I can't decide, because there are to many which are about equal, in my opinion...
But it's over with good looking fighters after the F-22, it seems... I can't imagine anybody describing the JSF as beautiful or anything close to that. But again I think the AF's goal is to build useful aircraft rather than beautiful ones.

L-188, do you think of the SAAB J32 Lansen?
I think SAAB also built a licensed version of the Hunter, called J34, but I'm not completely sure about that one...

Vought F-8 Crusader. Favorite fact is that DF-8 crone controllers were used to direct QF-4 target drones, the aircraft that were designed to replace them in service. Second runner up, the Douglas Skyray, followed by the Vought Cutlass.

F-15C by a long shot I could also say the A-4 as that was the last fighter the RNZAF had.

F-14 Tomcat, F-4 & the F-16. Always liked the looks of these three. "Top Gun" & "Iron Eagle II" were cool movies & featured these planes.
