Military Cargo Airplane With 6 Props?

Thu Jul 10, 2003 5:15 pm

Hello all,

yesterday I watched 2 military cargo airplanes approaching Ramstein AFB here in Germany.

Both looked like the C130, but had 3 engines on every wing. They were still travelling at high altitude, so that I could not identify more details.

What type of airplane comes to your mind, when thinking about this description.

Thanks

D.

Are you sure it wasn't a 130 with the drop tanks on it?

I can't think of any current six engined military transport.

Only current 6-engined aircraft is the An-225 and that's clearly different from a C-130 (far larger, jet, twin vertical stab, etc).
I wish I were flying

That's the only plane with six props I can think of, the B-36 Peacemaker, but it's a cold war plane, long gone now, and you had probably mentioned the inverted props as well...
