Which Squadrons Will Keep The F-15C?

Thu Aug 14, 2003 3:49 am

In many articles, it has been said that the U.S.A.F. will be unable to replace all of their F-15Cs with F/A-22s due to budget constraints. That means that certain units will continue to operate the F-15. Is there a list of the squadrons that will continue to operate the F-15?

Well I know a 'new' squadron has been reactivated- the 43rd which will as of now be based at Langley as the intial operation sqd. (just was at Langley for a bit and the money is pouring in and construction on F/A-22 stuff is ongoing)

While I was at Tyndall in 2000 they started construction on new F/A-22 training facilities, and even a new Tower. The first plan we heard was that the 1st AF Argentina">FS, and 2nd AF Argentina">FS at Tyndall would switch to the F/A-22 while the 95th AF Argentina">FS would stay F-15C (those are the 3 at Tyndall). That has probably changed, I heard maybe the 43rd would go to Tyndall instead of Langley. No idea if the 27th, 94th, or 71st at Langley will go F/A-22 first or not, but I am sure the 1st FW will have some pull  Smile

Sorry I couldn't help more, check archives and even the Air Force Times website they always have articles on it.

There was some discussions about F-22's ending up on Elmendorf eventually but no firm decision yet.
