Kamov To Sell Helicopters To Turkey?

MOSCOW, 12 Aug (Reuters) - Russian aircraft maker Kamov said on Tuesday it was on track to supply 145 of its Ka-50-2 combat helicopters to Turkey over six years. "We have practically initialled the contract with Turkey and we will finalise it by the end of 2003," Sergei Mikheev, the company's chief designer, told reporters. (...)"

Looks as if Bell lost an important customer for the upgraded AH-1Z. Granted, Israel is quite experienced in modification works on non-western aircraft but still, why a Russian 1-seater for a NATO member country and not the - let's say - A129?

You are right, the Ka-50-2 "Erdogan" is indeed a tandem twin-sitter. Thank you.

Edit: Pardon the wrong subtitle under the picture above. The correct designation is Ka-50-2 Erdogan.

It appears it was supposed to feature the side by side seating as on the Ka-52, but the Turks wanted a tandem arrangement for some reason.
