Help With A Registration

Wed Sep 03, 2003 2:24 am

I cant seem to find this number on any of the databases that I know of. I photographed what looks like a HC-130 Hercules taking off at Louisville, KY. On the tail it says "ANG" (for "Air National Guard") and Kentucky, and the number 11651.

On the side it says Kentucky Air Guard.

On the front there is some kind of logo and the number 1651.

I'd like to find some more info about this aircraft, like exact type, can anyone help? There is no listing for 11651 or 1651. It says U.S. Air Force so I guess that's the branch it is assigned to, but their numbers usually have the fiscal year in front of it such as 96-xxxx but this one is only 4 digits on the tail.

Would its serial number be the 4 digit or 3 digit version? 11651 or 1651?

thanks! your link above says page not found, but I plugged the number 91-1651 into another registry that i have and the same info comes up. I wonder why this plane did not have the "91" painted on it? How else could i have known it was "91"?

the tail number was "11651" I suppose I could then have looked under a year ending in "1". They sure have a wierd system of registration #s!

That's odd...the link should have worked.
Try this instead...

This is what I used to research my serial number questions.
If you find the home page, it will explain why the US armed forces don't put the entire serial number on the aircraft. Regards.

FlagshipAZ, you're forgetting the ~ as in http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/usafserials.html

Don't know how you managed to make it work without it!  Smile
