Victor Belenko

Thu Sep 25, 2003 9:12 am

Does anyone know where he is? Several years ago I bought his book, "MIG Pilot", and have read it several times. I would like to meet the man and maybe get him to sign my copy.
Thanks for any help.
By the way it's a very interesting book if you can find a copy.
If you can read this your flying too close

How would you rate a US F22 pilot "Dave" fleeing to China & telling all he knows & make a living out of telling his inspiring story that dramatically reaffirms the faith of every Chinese ?

"Dave was voted Chinese Citizen by a unanimous vote of the Chinese Polit Bureau."

I'd read the book first Keesje before making any judgements about comparing Victor to a hypothetical "Dave". There were many reasons Victor Belenko decided to make his journey.

Since my Father risked all that he had to escape a communist government I hold Belenko as a brave man.

Keesje is probably a member of our far left political movement.

His every post seems an attack on democracy and freedom and in defense of communism.

I've seen him on the Discovery Wings channel several times. He was talking about the MIG-25.

Keesje:

May I suggest reading the book "Mig Pilot." It will give you a good insight on the reasons he fled the USSR. Good idea don't you think?

Keesje as a good little communist will not believe that anyone will ever want to leave the socialist worker paradise (which is what he calls the USSR and any other communist country) for any reason, let alone betray it by taking a top secret piece of military hardware to the Great Satan.

I will give Keesje the fact that if an American fled the US, (say a carrier pilot flying an F-18 from a carrier), landed in China and asked for asylum he would be treated as a hero in China and a pariah in the US. He who wins gets to write the history....With Belenko the West won and he is a hero.

In my eyes he is a hero who escaped a vile dictatorship at great personal cost.

Cheers Comrades.  Smile
