Myopia Solution For New Fighter Pilots!

Thu Dec 25, 2003 7:14 pm

Hi all,
We all know that you need a 6/6 (or 20/20) UNcorrected vision to become a fighter pilot.

I have -0.25 of myopia in each eye, but I see perfectly. Every optometrist says I don't need glasses and I could always read the last line of letters/numbers in the eye accuracy examination - they all say i have a 6/6 vision.

The funny thing is, I am about to enroll the Air Force, I want to be a fighter pilot - I did the same eye accuracy examination at the optometrist in the Air Force and I couldn't read the last line! It seems like the last line in the military was half the size of the last line in the civilian optometrist... I did it twice, and I couldnt read it without the aid of 0.25 or 0.5 lenses. He says I can only fly helicopters, but no planes...My problem is so small but enough to avoid me of flying an f-16! I just can't believe it!
What can I do to pass this examination??? Are there any eye drops to use right before the examination? Any natural capsules I could use?
I heard about a GAIA ENHANCEMENT VISION formula, the active ingredients contains grape seed, litein and bilberry. Is it another bullshit or it does it really improve the vision?

if it sounds too good to be true...

Whatever you do, don't use it without consulting your eye doctor first.
Personally, I don't believe any of the shit all those miracle cures want to make you believe.

Myopia is a physical condition brought about by changing shape of your eye. The only cure is to surgically alter the shape again to undo nature's modifications.
While some muscle numbing poisons like belladonna can give temporary relieve in the long term they're counterproductive and you'd need to keep using them permanently which would certainly not be allowed.
I wish I were flying

Sounds like you're a good candidate for Myopia Reduction Therapy. Good starting place to learn more: http://216.92.232.181/home.htm

Thanks AAR90, I'm so happy to hear about that.
I read everything you wrote in the other discussion at tech_ops, you seem to know everything about eyes. Smile/happy/getting dizzy It's awesome to have people like you in this forum.
Im just not sure if it's better Ortho-K or Vision Therapy for me.
I'll check it out today, hope one of them fits for me!
I hape more 6 months till the next examination

...you seem to know everything about eyes.

Not hardly, but I do remember most of what I've learned about my eyes and my options.

I'd recommend trying the VT first... if your situation fits. Nothing "in" or "on" the eyes. Just a lot of good mental and physical exercises. You'll also learn more about how your eyes really work then anything that uses corrective lenses or surgery. Understand though that as you age your ability to adjust without corrective lenses decreases. Good Luck.  Big thumbs up

Luck? Why do you say so? I would say a lot of effort and hard work.
I live in Israel so my only available option is the Israeli Air Force...

Are you enrolling or are you already in?

Since the Israeli AF has the best fighter pilots in the world, there is a very high standard that you have to meet, but I'm sure you already know that. Not only do you need near perfect marks, but you need to be in the best physical shape, and that little problem with your eyes, although extremely minor, just might be the thing that stops you from getting in.

I see that you live in Haifa, is that missile fired from Iraq during the Gulf War still hanging from the ceiling in that mall?
