I agree with Ftrguy. We go to civilian airports frequently, even though an Air Force Base is close. I can go into a civilian FBO and have a Jet A truck waiting on me to engage the gust lock so he can pull in and hook up. After landing I can be topped off in 10 minutes on a bad day. Besides, I can check out the local biz jets, and the locals can check out my helicopter, swap a few lies, and be on our way. Many military bases fuel is called for, and will arrive depending on their mission requirements, manning, etc. The FBO is quick and easy, that is how they make their money. As a rule, when leaving the local area, ALWAYS carry some of Uncle Sam's plastic, and life is easier. Some bases, which I won't mention, get all confused when a transient aircraft shows up. Transients are no biggie in the civilian world.
