Ding Hao, Hap Arnold Special & Ramp Tramp

Sat Mar 06, 2004 11:33 am

Hi folks...
If these names sounds familiar to you, they were attached to the three B-29s interned by Soviet Russia in the closing months of WWII. All three birds were reverse-engineered by Tupolev becoming the TU-4. And the US never got them back.
What I like to know is, what are the USAAF serial numbers (tailnumbers) of these 3 birds. I know it's a long shot here, but can anyone point me in the right direction please?
All replies appreciated. Regards.

43-93829 was "What Happened". Appropriate name I think. The "extra" number is due to the large number of aircraft contracted during fiscal year 1942. Now do you want the c/ns?

Parts off one of them, I think it was the HH Arnold Special where used in the TU-4 prototype.
