F-18 Crash At Yellowknife Airport

Sun Jun 20, 2004 5:09 am

An F-18 crashed at our airport this morning. I will post an article when I can find one. Apparently he ejected so he is alright. So the airport is shut down for now. Not sure if this is the same one that dropped a missile on our golf course yesterday or not.

Good that the pilot is ok, but i guess that you now have a new hole in your golf course! (by the way, do you use red or other color balls instead of white? do you have unusual hazards like polar bear traps?)

I know you may not have all details right now, but do you know if it was taking off or what? About two or three months ago, here at RDU we had an F-18 crash on take off. The first one made it, and for some reason, unknown to me, the pilot of the second one ejected on take off and the plane crashed. This shut RDU down for a few hours as well, because it was pretty close to terminal A.

I work at a golf range, and we use yellow balls. I prefer the regular white ones, but I don't really make the decisions.  Smile

The plane was landing and I guess it came in to fast.

As for the golf question I'm pretty sure your joking but some people are serious. We have a sand course so we don't need coloured balls we use whatever we have I guess. The only unusual hazard here is that ravens have been known to take balls so you have to agree with your players where to put it.

Wow...Yellowknife has been fairly busy (relatively speaking) the past few months, between this and UA 901 (FRa-SFO) being diverted due to a compressor stall!

And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

Yep but I can't get out to see the F-18 thanks to the D&D blocking off the highway. People can't come into town or out. Are they embarrassed or what?

Well! Yellowknife is off of my "must see" list. And after following those links, I am giving up golf and chasing ground hogs.

Thanks, LY744.

They arent embarassed, there are missiles and aircraft parts strewn across the runways and the highway. Last I heard the Missiles had become unstable because of the accident so they have to play it safe.

I don't know I didn't about that. Do you know how much damage there is?
