Boeing/Grumman Team-up For CEV

Fri Nov 12, 2004 7:41 am

Boeing and Northrop Grumman have announced their intention to collaborate on their bid for NASA's CEV, a.k.a. Crew Exploration Vehicle. The CEV will fufil most of NASA's needs after the Space Shuttle's are retired.

Boeing indicates their CEV bid will likely be a disposable capsul design. Further details will be released in January when all bids are due.

Boeing eventually absorbed the company that made the Apollo Command Module, Grumman made the Lunar Excursion Module.
Though it is doubtful that anyone who were involved with these projects are still working at the respective companies, the team seems an apt combination.
