Holidays At The National Museum Of The US Air Forc

Tue Nov 23, 2004 12:51 am

If any of you are planning on visiting the National Museum of the US Air Force during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays, here are a few tips.

The museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day (November 25th this year), Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Actually, those are the only days the museum is closed all year.
Thanksgiving weekend and the period between Christmas and New Years normally are very busy days for visitors. The period after Thanksgiving weekend until before Christmas are usually relatively light in terms of attendance. Hours are 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

If you plan on visiting the Presidential and Research and Development Hangars across the field, schedule yourself as early as possible. Access is limited and on a busy day, all trips are generally booked up for the day before 11:00 AM. The registration desk is adjacent to the Bob Hope display and one entrance to the War Power Gallery (WW II). Turn left immediately after leaving the gift show area.

Enjoy yourself!!

Broke,

Can those of us with base access still drive directly to the Presidential & R&D
hangars without having to ride the bus from the main building? Saves the bus seats for the civilians....

Great museum for those of you who have not been there! Puts the NASM facilities on the Mall and at Silver Hill to shame! (I've not seen Udvar-Hazy yet). It's worth the trip!

Individuals who have access to WPAFB can visit the Presidential and Research and Development hangars without having to use the shuttle. They can also bring guests, but all adults must have a photo ID.
