F-22 Raptor Crashes At Nellis AFB

Tue Dec 21, 2004 1:14 pm

So not every aircraft will have a perfect safety record. The pilot safely ejected from the aircraft before the crash.

The F-22 didn't have a perfect record even before this. The first one ever built also crashed.

Isn't this the wrong forum for this, though?

This isn't the first crash.

Go to http://www.flightlevel350.com/ and search for "F-22" for video evidence (it's taken from the Discovery Channel, by the looks of things).

Gerhard,

According to another forum, it was 00-4014 c/n 4014 assigned to the 422nd TES.

Ah, just forgot to post to the comment to the picture, its remarkable, that all Raptors have been grounded until further notice after the accident.

'USA - Air Force
Lockheed Martin F/A-22A Raptor
Lockheed Martin F/A-22 Raptor
Las Vegas - Nellis Air Force Base (LSV / KLSV)
USA - Nevada, November 13, 2004
Reg: 00-4014
Code: OT
Cn: 4014
This picture shows the tail of the Raptor, which crashed during take off within Nellis AFB on Monday, 20th of December 2004. Thankfully the pilot ejected successfully, the aircraft, however, burnt to pieces. This aircraft was operated by the 422nd TES, tailcode 'OT'. All Raptors have been grounded until further notice.'

Another picture of the crashed aircraft 00-4014, showing an open weapons bay and the main gear:

Taken at the Nellis Air Show back in November 2004, the aircraft was on static display there.

The photo screeners suck majorly if they rejected those photos of a pretty rare plane, and an even rarer AIM-9 rail!  Sad Nice shots though.

Mind my asking.....why would those photos be rejected?

Thanks for your interest in these pictures.
However, it was not my intention to criticize the screeners by posting the links, they are doing a remarkable job at this site.
I just wanted to share the pictures with those who are interested in, since this aircraft crashed a few days ago.
Both close up pictures showing the tail and the AIM-9 rail have been rejected for badquality.
In my opinion there seems to be a restriction on this site, that close ups of military aircraft do not get accepted.
Since I know now, I don't have a problem with that.
Please calm down.
Happy and Sunny New Year 2005 to all of you.
