Get Your Own Fighter Jet!

Tue Jul 12, 2005 5:19 pm

According to the Czech news server idnes, today is the factual end of 44 Wow! years of service of MiG-21s in the Czech(oslovak) Air Force. One MiG-21 was flown to the Prague-Kbely military museum earlier today and the remaining 5 will be flown to the Pøerov air base at 11:00 CET where they will be stored awaiting potential buyers.
The military has already sold 21 out of its 33 MiG-21s. According to the news server the price for one is 20.000 CZK (700EUR/800USD) and includes engine, accessories and spare parts. The a/c is not airworthy, therefore suitable only for display... Anyone interested?

Running the price of 20,000 Czech Koruna (as listed in the original post) through a currency converter came up with a figure of just about $800 or so...so no typo in the original post...

Watched one take off just an hour ago at 4SD (Stead)

It is SierraHotel for sure, but it does stop well short of being pretty.
Hey, that price should get a few bids.

I would like to, but according to the German military weapons act, it would have to be demilled in a way that it wouldn't be airworthy anymore (key components removed, engine filled with plastic foam, wing spars cut, hydraulic lines and wire looms cut).  Sad

Please IM me for my AX number. I want to buy one, then hold an A.net telethon to raise the cash to ship it home....I'll put it in my brothers yard so my wife doesn't divorce me.

Seriously. IM me with the details and I'll get an agent to buy one for me.

The only source I have so far is the aforementioned news server which quoted the amount of 20.000 CZK, which is indeed some 800 USD. I can double check it with someone more relevant if someone would be really interested. Just e-mail me through my profile.

I'd go to my neighbor first. He owns two A-4s and would probably part with one for the right price.
