Sat Aug 06, 2005 7:26 am

Hey everyone, Are there any boneyards that have a large amount of UH1/AH1's laying around. Where have they been stored at?

Thanks,
Mike

Ft. Drum, NY, has (or had) a boatload of AH-1 aircraft in storage. I was there last 2 years ago. I heard from somebody that the plan was to scrap the Cobras after foreign sales and fire service mod aircraft were complete. There were some very nice airframes there, as well as some beat up ones. It was fun to walk around the yard and check them out.

U.S. Helicopters in Ozark, AL does a lot of work on US Army and overseas UH-1's. There are a lot stored there. I think there is another company in Temple, TX that have some stored UH-1's.

I live down the road from the place in Ozark with all the UH1's. I actually never fully knew what it was. That along with other boneyards with a few aircraft also where I live triggered me wondering where all the rest are. Thanks for the responses everyone.

There's quite a few scattered around the countryside near Fort Rucker. Theres some behind Yano Hall, used as salvage parts. At Enterprise Municipal there's a few if I remember. Maybe at Florala also.

Yea ive seen the ones out by Yano, also back in the woods over by the Vet clinic there are some as well as. On the small road that connects the daleville gate over to Hanchey there is a small yard with a few UH1/58's in there as well. I dont believe that there are any at EDN, im taking flight lessons from there and havent noticed any. Not sure about Florala though, thanks for the tip ill have to look into that.

Efohdee, forget my last post about there not being any at EDN, I was out there today and noticed about 7 or 8 sitting behind a small hangar. Never really noticed before as they are hidden behind a small hangar but I looked around today and sure enough theyre still there.
